Luke hand is interlocked with mine as we walk out of the training room. We get into the pit and he stops walking, letting go of my hand. "I have to go talk to Four and my dad about a few different things. After everything that's happened today, you should probably go back to the dorm and get some rest."
"No, I'll just come with you." I say.
"Abigail, just-"
"You know not to call me that."
"Abigail." he teases.
I roll my eyes. "Whatever. Now where are we meeting Zeke and Four?"
"Abbi, please go back, okay?"
"Fine." I say, but I don't move.
He smiles at me and kisses my forehead. He turns around and walk off.
I go back to the dormitory and pull my songbook out of my guitar case. I let myself escape into my music world.
Later, Luke walks in and sits down beside me on my bed. I close my songbook and slide it underneath my bed.
"I want to hear one of your songs." he says.
"No." I tell him sternly.
"Please?" he begs.
I sigh. "I guess so." He smiles and I pull out my guitar.
Somehow you manage to put a smile on my face
Even in these crazy days and
When I keep on falling on the floor
You pick me up and
Stand by my side and
In the hard times when I need you most
You're right there with me
"Yeah, I know, it's terrible." I say.
"No it's not." he says, smiling at me. I smile back.
