My eyes slowly flutter open as I come back to consciousness. I see Josh standing above me. When I look around, I'm still in the same room. It's weird, like the past half hour never existed. "What do you remember from the past half hour?" Skylar asks me.
"Nothing." I answer.
"Good." Marcus replies. I slowly stand up out of the chair. Without a word, Josh motions for me to follow him, and we go back to my room.
"What did they do? Why don't I remember anything?" I ask Josh.
"You were in a simulation. Trust me, it's probably better you don't know."
"Josh, what's going on? Tell me. Now."
We stop in front of the door to my room. "Listen, I'm doing whatever I can to keep the three of us alive. If I tell you, we'll all be dead. I'm not even supposed to know." He sighs. "You seem tired.Just go take a nap or something." Without saying another word, he walks off.
The three of us? What is he talking about? He's right though about me being tired. I'm starting to think I'm an insomniac or something. I'm always tired, but I can never sleep.
I grab the tablet out from underneath my bed. As soon as I turn in on, the screen shuts off. Great. Now it's dead.
I know I'm supposed to stay in my room, but I don't care anymore. Food sound good, though they probably don't have dauntless cake here. I guess it's worth a try.
I start down the hallway, towards the cafeteria. The double door are propped open, and I peak inside. There has to be almost 100 people here, even several little kids, just talking as if they have no idea of the war going on inside Chicago. They're obviously factionless, considering their clothing. But otherwise, they don't look like factionless. I watch a little girl, about 6 or 7. Her hair is fixed perfectly in two braids, and she runs around without a care in the world. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was that age.
I walk towards the counter where they're serving food from, and get a sandwich. Surprisingly, they give my one as if I'm no different from anyone else here. I bring ithe sandwich back to my room, deciding that I should get back before anyone realizes I'm missing.
The sandwich is gone in seconds once I get back. I lay down on my bed, trying and once again failing to sleep.
A/N: Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding, but if I know you in real life, I can't actually give you dauntless cake. Such awesomeness does not exist.
