A LOUD MUSIC PLAYED as I pushed my way through dancing bodies and started to hate myself for coming to this party. Parties usually were never my thing, especially if it involved a lot of famous wannabe's, but I couldn't say no when my best friend begged me to come. I found a quiet place and sat in one of the empty chairs. I took a sip of my martini as I judged the drunk fools who were dancing and grabbing each other in front of me, when a different song started to play.

Water, water wash

Garratt's calm voice brought a whole new vibe to the place and I laid back in my chair. This song brought so many memories back, memories of him...

Water wash over me, cool me down

Jake. Yes, he is my ex-boyfriend. The one I never really moved on from. We broke up about a year ago because of our busy lives and all of that crap, but there's not a day I don't think about him or how it would have turned out if we never had called things off.

Cool me down. Water, water leave

Oh, I know what you're thinking; "But it's been a year, move on!". I tried, you know, I actually did try. But, we were together for three years before our careers took over our lives and you don't just throw that in the garbage and move on with your life. There's just too much history.

Water leave through the valleys you wore down

A smile appeared on my face. This used to be our song. The song that was playing in the background of a house party when we shared our first kiss...

Wear me down

Suddenly one martini wasn't enough alcohol for me. I shook those thoughts away and made my way to the bar.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

"Another martini, please." I ordered and sat on the bar stool.

Lose me in the dark, drag me to the deep

I drank the martini on one sip and the bartender gave me a strange look. "Another one, please."

Let your water wash over me

"Rough night?" The bartender asked, while handing me another martini. "Rough life." I answered, taking a sip of it. He chuckled and went to the other side of the bar.

Water, water rise. Water rise up and roll through the islands

I tried to keep Jake out of my mind while looking through the crowd of people dancing. I took another sip on my drink and tried to find someone to make fun of.

Roll down the streets

A group of guys caught my attention. They were across the room, but their laughs were so loud I could hear it from where I was.

It's short-lived, boys, short-lived, boys

I felt like I knew some of these guys, but in a room full of 'celebrities', it was kind of hard to know where from.

Find a woman and dance through the moons like

One of the tallest ones with very fluffy hair started to make signs to me. I furrowed my eyebrows, what the hell was he... Danny. It was Danny Wagner, an old friend. I smiled and waved back at him.

Leave me the rain

He smiled and patted on the back of one of the guys with long hair. The guy turned around and my heart sank in.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

It was Jake. That goddamn beautiful motherfucker. His expression went blank for a moment before giving me an awkward smile and turning back to his friends.

Lose me in the dark, drag me to the deep

I took a deep breath, finished my drink and went back to the less crowded area of the backyard. This couldn't be happening.

Let your water wash over me

I felt my hands shake and my heart pounded faster and faster. I hadn't seen him since we broke up and this is how it was supposed to happen? During this song? On a freaking house party? You have to be fucking kidding me.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

I took a final deep breath and calmed myself down, yet I still felt like I was going to vomit my heart out.

Lose me in the dark, drag me to the deep

I took a cup I found and drank the whole whatever-drink that was in it. I leaned back on the fence and started to look out for my best friend.

Let your water wash over me

As I looked for her, I found someone else. Jake looked lost while running his hands through his hair, like he was searching for something... Or someone.

Wash, wash

When his dark brown eyes finally met mine, my whole body shivered. We both held that look for longer than I thought.

Wash, wash

Suddenly, Jake started to take slow steps towards me. His eyes still looking deep into mine. I stood there, with furrowed eyebrows, not knowing what he was doing nor what to do. He gave no signs but a one sided smile and I felt like my legs were about to give in.

Drown me in your water

As the words slowly came out of Garratt's mouth, Jake took me by the hips and clashed our lips together.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

The kiss wasn't rushed, it was slow yet eager. His hands firmly held my hips as my hands ran through his long dark locks.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

The people at the party didn't matter anymore, their voices started to fade away. There was only the two of us right now, us in this moment that I wish could last forever.

Drown me in the water, drown me in the sea

We broke the kiss, longing for air, as the song started to fade away too. He kept his hands firmly around me and rested his forehead on mine. "Hi." He whispered, making me smile. We stayed into each others arms for a while. We wanted to save this moment. Pretend like that whole year apart from each other never happened. Pretend like we never left each others side, at least, for now.
