YOU ROLLED YOUR EYES, looking at the amount of letters spilled around your bed. Some of them were apologies that made your heart break. Most of them were romantic poetry that made your heart flutter. The man behind all those words was the man you loved the most and also the one you hated the most.

Yours always, Josh

That's how all of them ended, but that was far from being true. He wasn't yours, he would never be yours. Josh wasn't a one woman's man and you knew that. Yet, your heart didn't, as it would beat faster every time you would allow yourself to think about him.

A few knocks on your front door took you out of your trance and you rushed to get it. Without even asking who it was, and just assuming it was your neighbor asking about her missing cat again, you opened it. Only to be met by Josh himself.

"Hi." He breathed out. The sun rays illuminating his curls, almost making him look like an angel. But he was far from being that.

"What are you doing here?" You asked, your hand firmly at the door.

"I thought you'd be happier to see me." Josh smiled, but his face fell when you didn't return it. "You never answered my letters."

"I simply had nothing to say." You shrugged. The harshness behind your words cut him deep like knives.

"But you read them?"

"Yes."

"All of them?"

"Just tell me what you want." You sighed, closing your eyes.

"I thought I made myself pretty obvious." He referred to his last letter, where he apologized and said all he wanted in this world was to be with you.

"I can't do shit with words, Josh." You said through gritted teeth, opening your eyes. "They're all empty promises. All of your letters."

Josh kept quiet, only nodding as he looked down on his feet. He knew you were right, even if he had meant every word he'd ever wrote to you, they were still empty promises since he never kept them. Like the times he wrote you he'd come home soon and his tours only seemed to get longer. Or the times he promised you were the only woman he ever wanted and he'd have a different one in his bed every night. All of it, pure bullshit. All of it, but his love for you.

"I want to be better. I want to be the man you deserve. But I don't know how." He admitted, still not looking at you. You scoffed, those words alone made every single thought you ever had about him become true.

"If you really cared about me, you'd know." Your tone was now sad and he felt his heart tug knowing he was the reason behind it.

"All I can say is that I'm really sorry." Josh looked at you, tears brimming in his brown eyes. "Sorry that I'll never be the man you want me to be or the one you deserve." He reached out for your hand, holding it gently in his rougher ones. "Sorry that I'll never get to give you the happiness and love you truly deserve." He placed a small kiss on your hand. "Even if my heart belongs to you, I still haven't learned how to properly use it."

"Josh–"

"I'm serious, my love." Josh sighed, letting go of your hand. "I just want you to be happy. And if that means I had to completely remove myself from your life, then that's what I'll do." He gave you a weak smile and before you could even say anything else, he walked away from you and from everything you both had.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I was in the mood for sadness so I'm sorry about this. I'm also not very satisfied with it but I don't want to delete it and I needed to update, so I hope you can still appreciate it. Also, I'm so sorry about the requests I haven't posted yet. I've been going through a tough writer's block and just been busy with life. But I will try to update this book more often xx
