Our friendship has steadily grown
Over the last ten months
And on my birthday
You surprise me with tickets
To see one of my favorite bands
Of course, we're required to travel
Fifty miles away
But I don't mind
I especially don't mind that we're sharing a hotel room
It was a magical birthday
The concert was amazing
We were able to go backstage
Where we chatted and took pictures with the band
And obtained their autographs
Afterward, you and I went to dinner
A delicious meal
And the staff performed Happy Birthday
When you joined in
I learned that you could sing
1:56 am, my birthday is officially over
Yet in your pajamas
You present me with a miniature red velvet cake
A single lit candle in the middle
Knelt on the floor in front of me
As I sit on the bed
You ask me to make a wish
Eyes shut
Wish made
I pucker my lips
Blowing to extinguish the tiny flame
My lips are still puckered
When I feel the gentle contact of yours
I have two thoughts
You're obviously a mind reader
As kissing you was my birthday wish
And your technique has abundantly improved
