God Can Use Anyone

That answered and said to him, "You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?" And they cast him out. John 9:34

John chapter 9 talks about when Jesus healed a blind man. How He made mud with His spit, put it on the blind man's eyes and told him to wash. The blind man's eyes were healed and he told everyone he knew. Some didn't think it was him. They thought he was some other person. His parents out of fear of being thrown out of the synagogue refused to really answer any questions. And the Pharisees, well that's what we're about to talk about.

When the blind man was healed the people brought him to the Pharisees who couldn't really figure the situation. And when the now seeing man came up with a reasonable answer they shot it down because they believed they were so much better and wouldn't take advice from a man born in sins.

I think we do this sometimes. We shoot down the thoughts and opinions of other believers and ourselves because of mistakes we've made in the past. Or because we believe that God couldn't possibly use me, or couldn't possibly use them. No way God can teach anyone anything through the life of someone of "much less significance". We put ourselves or others high up and make others or ourselves feel like it's impossible to measure up to a level of "Supremacy".

The Pharisees fatal flaw was their pride. I'll admit, it's mine too. And when we believe that we're so much better than everyone else we become just as bad as them. Jesus told the disciples off for telling the people to stop performing miracles in his name.

God can use anyone. No matter what they came from, because with God it's not about who you were. It's about who you will be. God can use anyone to teach anyone. God can use the sinner to teach the Saint. God can use, what we think of as the "least of these", to teach "the high and mighty". When we believe He can't, we limit Him.

So don't minimize anyone, including yourself, because God can use everyone. God can use you, God can me. God can even use our messiest of messes.
