"I don't know why, but I guess, it's got something to do with you."The Ark - the one space station formed from the many. The entire world as everyone knew it was after after nuclear bombs were set off, killing every living thing that every walked on the earth's surface. The council told everyone that the earth wouldn't be survivable for another 3 or so years - at least, that's what they wanted everyone to believe.
Cyra believed in the silliest, most small things, she thought the ground was fine - that it was survivable. That maybe the Ark should just float back down to earth. But things weren't that simple.
"Cyra?" Clarke was standing behind Cyra in a large doorway as Cyra turned over to Clarke with her legs still crossed - away from the large window looking down at earth.
"Hi." Cyra smiled slightly as the blonde casually walked over and sat down beside her. The two girls sat in a comfortable silence, mesmerized by the view of earth. Cyra focused more on the barely visible reflection of the glass, her thick curled hair bounced on her shoulders, she was quite thin too. Her ocean blue eyes - which she got from her mother, complemented her tanned skin.
She let out a long sigh and kept looking forward, the smile on her face slowly faltering. Clarke seemed to notice as she turned to the girl beside her.
"Are you okay?" Clarke questioned carefully, as if she was afraid Crya would just crumble into a million pieces. Am I? Cyra thought to herself as she sat in silence, thinking of what to say.
"I think." Was all she said before turning back to the glass window in front of them and staring deep into the eyes of her own reflection.
Cyra was completely normal, she had her family - a Father whose name was Ben, a little brother, Avon and a Mother she never got to meet. She always though it was funny how her and her brother's names came from someone named Ben.
"Okay, I'm not.." Crya trailed off. Clarke let out a deep breath as if she was waiting quietly for Cyra to admit it. After all, they knew each other like the back of their palms. Cyra took a deep, heavy breath before she spoke.
"I turn seventeen next week," She began, Clarke was a little younger but since Cyra was always being looked at in medical they became very fond of each other and grew to be best friends. Clarke nodded in silence, encouraging her friend to continue.
"I'm sick of it, everyday I'm scared of leaving my room, of being near anyone but you and my family. What would everyone think of me if they knew?" Cyra was on the verge of tears, her voice was soft and broken. Clarke gave her a sympathetic look as she rubbed her hand on Cyra's back to comfort her.
"I'm not even normal, I'm a monster." Cyra said, more to herself than Clarke. Suddenly Clarke reached out and grabbed Cyra's shoulders in her hands, forcing Cyra to look at Clarke. A frown grew on her face as she looked into Cyra's eyes, they were bloodshot and full of tears.
"You," Clarke looked right into Cyra's eyes and she pointed a finger to her chest.
"Are not a monster." Clarke emphasized the word not, her voice full of authority. Cyra nodded quickly, trying to stop the tears from streaming down her face. Clarke muttered a 'come here' and pulled her into a tight hug. Cyra had given up on the entire, 'don't cry' thing. She let the tears stream down her hot cheeks as her small whimpers turned into quiet sobs.
"You are beautiful in every way, okay? You have changed my life so much Cy." Clarke whispered into her ear as they sat in silence, still in each other's arms.
