The woman stared at the Indian Guide and Wolf, but remained silent at last, she spoke to them. "Can I help you," she asked.

"Are you Alison," the Guide asked.

"Yes," she replied and pointed to the large animal. "Is that a wolf?"

He nodded. "You don't look like Alison," he said.

The woman smiled. "Then, perhaps I am not the Alison that you're looking for."

Wolf's nose was working hard, attempting to learn who this woman was; he didn't know her and he growled menacingly.

"Your wolf will have to stay outside. There are animals inside this house as well as children and I'll not have them harmed."

"No," the Guide said. "He is the mate to our Alison."

"The Lone Wolf," she whispered.

The Guide nodded.

"Then enter, and rest a while."

The Indian Guide and the Lone Wolf entered the house and he saw the white kitten laying on the settee by a little boy with brown hair and brown eyes. The kitten hopped down and fell over then wobbled over to Wolf and rubbed against his front leg.

"Snow likes you," she said as she righted her long blond braid toward her back.

"And the boy, who is he?"

"He is yet to be born. There are more like him here. But the one you're looking for is in the top most room of the turret. I think she likes it there because she can see in all directions." She snorted a laugh as she shook her head. "This place isn't like her dream world where she can make things happen according to her will."

Guide nodded. "I am familiar with it," he said.

Wolf dropped the stone and had taken the kitten into his mouth and had already begun climbing the stairs. The little boy slid off the settee and nicked the stone from the floor and gazed at it thoughtfully.

Guide turned to ask the woman questions, but she had disappeared and in her place was a cat and she hopped up on the settee with the little boy who was still holding onto the red stone. He huffed a sigh and then sat on the floor to await Wolf's return.

Wolf climbed the stairs and walked the corridors of the house, only to have to climb more stairs and he was growing more and more anxious. When he rounded another corner, he nearly walked into the little boy from the settee.

"You're going around in circles, see?" He pointed down the stairs.

Wolf backtracked and saw Guide sitting on the floor patiently. He turned his head and stared hard at the animal, raised his brow and shook his head. He wearily rose to his feet and huffed a sigh, turned toward the cat and pointed toward Wolf. "Fetch her," he said. "We must return home."

The cat stared at him.

"She cannot remain here...she will die and all hopes of defeating the Evil Doers will die with her," he said.

The cat hissed.

"You do not like that outcome? Neither do I. Help us help her."

The cat yawned and stretched out her front paws, the long claws extending and piercing into the settee. She sat on the sofa and licked her paw, then wiped it on her face.

Finally, she hopped off the sofa and materialized into the woman. "The Lone Wolf must present himself, or he will never find her."

The Indian Guide walked toward the wolf who was now quite agitated. "Sebastian, show yourself."
