16 - Zeno's secret

Yuri's POV:

We had been waking for a while. As we traveled through the night I thought back to all the other times Zeno dragged me along like this.

I wonder what he wants this time.

Slowly, Zeno came to a stop. We were pretty far from the others, but I didn't bother to worry about it.

The only thing running through my head was thoughts of Zeno.

"Yuri, I have a secret." Zeno smiled at me, no longer speaking in his "special" way.

"What is it?" I asked quietly.

"You know how the other dragons warriors have powers?" Zeno's gaze seemed to bore into me, making it impossible to look away.

"Yes, I do."

"Well I have a power too." Zeno lifted his hands to cup each side of my face.

"Really! What is it like, do the others know?!" I asked excitedly, only to be met with Zeno's sad smile.

"Yuri, I am just like you. The yellow dragon warriors power is just like your power."

I felt my heart leap to my throat as I gazed into his eyes.

"What do you mean, Zeno?" I asked not sure if I had heard right.

"I am exactly like you Yuri. My power is the same as yours." Zeno now had tears in his eyes as he looked at me.

"What? Zeno stop it, I don't believe you." I shrugged away from him.

"I'm not lying Yuri." Zeno stepped towards me, determined to make me believe him.

"Here I'll prove it" Zeno look around and then picked up a stick.

I watched in shock as he raised it over his other hand. He went to bring it down but I had stopped him.

"Okay fine I believe you, just don't do that." I told him with tears now streaming from my face.

There was no way Zeno would just hurt himself like that so he had to of been telling the truth.

Upon seeing my tears Zeno pulled me into a hug.

"For so long Yuri, I had thought that I would have to be alone forever. But now I have you." Zeno murmured.

"Can we stay together from here on out okay, Yuri?" Zeno asked me. "I don't want to end up alone again."

I answered his question almost instantly.

"Yes Zeno, I would love to."

Zeno pulled away from me slightly, causing me to look up at him... he was blushing.

"Yuri, I love you." He whispered.

At that moment everything clicked. Why my heart had raced before, the reason for me blushing when I looked at him.

I love him. I don't know when I had first began to love him but that doesn't matter. What matters is that I know now.

"Zeno..... I love you too."

I watched as Zenos face lit up in joy. He pulled me into a tight hug, and I hugged back.

For the first time in a long time I felt completely and utterly happy.

And as we stood there I knew every thing would work out. Me and Zeno would never feel alone the way we did before ever again.

We both would have someone, forever and always.

Because.....We are the same.
