"Lena, would you please stop talking for a minute?" my dad asked rudely.

"I'm just trying to tell you that I met Liam Payne and he had a sister with the same-" I started.

"Shut up Lena! I'm sure that you're mistaken."  my mom snapped.

I stared at them both. "D-Did I do something wrong?" I asked. I didn't understand why they were so angry and irritated-I'd just gotten home three hours ago! They weren't at all happy to see me either.

"No, Lena, we're just not in the mood to talk." Dad said.

"Well that's rude." I muttered.

"Go get ready, honey. We have that board meeting tonight." Mom said, her voice much softer. And just like that she seemed to be in a better mood.

Ah yes. The meeting. My parents and I were all horseback riders, and mom and dad were part of the board that ran the saddle club where we showed. We attended the board meeting every month.

I went to my bedroom and put my headphones in to drown out my confusion and hurt at their rudeness. Through The Dark came on, and I smiled. Hearing the sound of the boys singing about how they would take care of me (not literally, obviously) made me happy. I spent too much time on my makeup, and my mother started banging on my door to get me to hurry up.

I got dressed for the meeting and we headed out.

"Oh, shut up Lena." Kathryn said playfully.

"No. You know I'm right." I said.

She rolled her eyes. "Would you girls please quiet down?" one if the board members called. I smirked. Kathryn and I had a habit of pissing people off. Not that we cared. It was actually a lot of fun, especially when our victims were the the trio of mean girls who liked to pick on us Freshman year. I'd gotten tired of it Sophomore year-I'd gotten tired of bullshit in general-and I had beat up their ring leader. I got suspended and screamed at my mom, but it was totally worth it. It sweetened the deal when Kathryn beat the shit out of the girl's friend for making fun of me when I wasn't there. She got suspended too, but her mom and dad didn't really give a fuck.

The board meeting continued behind us and we continued talking, ignoring the hisses behind us telling us to shut up.

"I hate this place. It smells like fish." Kathryn said.

"They should seriously consider moving it." I agreed. Every board meeting was held in this horrible seafood restaurant that served pale shrimp on dirty plates. I never ate there, and neither did Kathryn. We usually ate after at the IHOP across the parking lot, but one time we couldn't wait for the meeting to end so we just ordered pizza at the restaurant and made the staff angry along with the board members. Again, not that we cared.

"Shhh!" my mother hissed at me. I smirked again.

Suddenly the door burst open and nine people were there. Five of them were very familiar, and I dropped my phone onto the table.

"Holy fuck. One Direction." Kathryn said quietly, which was very unlike her.

"Is Lena Cooper here?" Liam asked. Again, there was that feeling that I knew him. I had originally thought that it was only because I knew all of the boys so well from fangirling, and that I would feel it when looking at any of them, but there were the other four and the feeling was only there with Liam. I noticed a man and woman to his left, and there were two cops behind them.
