(Y/N)'s Pov

So, my exams were coming up real fast and I had to start studying straight away! Since I'm still a student and I don't have a full time job on the taskforce, I'm able to leave and come back whenever I need to, so L was totally okay with me leaving today to study.

I normally like to go to a cafe to study as it's really peaceful and I always get my own space so no one can annoy me.

At least, that's what I thought...

When I reached the cafe today, it was filled with people! I looked around to see that most of them were students much like myself. I guess everyone had the same idea I did today and decided to come to the cafe to study too.

'There's far too many people here! I can't study here. I'll easily get distracted with all the noise and it doesn't look like there's a lot of space to study here anyway!'

And with that, I immediately turn on my heels and head away from the cafe and back out onto the busy streets.

Time for plan B!

If the cafe was closed or had too many people in it, like today, I'd go to the second place on my list: The library.
It'd be quiet, it's a library after all, there'd be lot's of space, and when I finish studying, I can always find a book or manga to read to relax my mind. It'd be perfect!

So I made my way down to the library. When I went in, I noticed that it wasn't as busy as the cafe was. Perfect.

It was easy to find a desk to sit down but as I made my way, I walked passed a shelf with manga all over it and a familiar manga caught my eye.

My attention was drawn straight to the manga and I stopped walking.

'Should I? It wouldn't hurt to take a little look. Studying sucks anyway'.

I reached for the manga but as soon as my fingers touched it, I felt a cold hand on top mine. Someone else had tried to take the same manga.

I flinched a little and looked up.

I came face to face with L.

"Ryuzaki?"

"(Y/N)?"

We both froze for a second, L's hand still on top of mine before he quickly took it away and scratched the back of his head, his cheeks going slightly red.
I pulled my hand to my chest and blushed a crimson red.

'L just...touched me...?'

"I'm sorry about that", L said.

"That's okay", I reply.

"I never knew you were into that series too (Y/N)".

"Oh yeah! I love that series! It's one of my favourites!" You giggle, causing L to blush a little more.

"Shouldn't you be studying though (Y/N)?" L asked, shoving his hands in his pockets. His face went from embarrassed to a little more serious.

"I was gonna, but my attention was drawn to that manga", I state, pointing to it.

"I don't blame you. That's a good series."

"Honestly, I never knew you liked to read Ryuzaki!" I say.

"Well, I like to read in my spare time like right now, but my free time is limited so I don't really get the opportunity to read a lot when I want to. I did have a lot of books at the orphanage though", L said with a slight smile.

"Well, I have lots of books at my house! When neither of us are busy, you can come over and we can read and chat about books!" I say happily.

"That sounds nice...I've never been to a girls' house before..." L looked at the floor in embarrassment.

"You're welcome around anytime!"

He smiled at me and I smiled brightly back.

"Now, you have to study", L said, taking the manga off the shelf. "I'll give you this manga when I'm certain you've done enough studying (Y/N). You have to make sure you study well so you don't miss anything out. I'm sure you won't disappoint me."

He then walked off to find a spot to read the manga.

"H-Hey! No fair! I actually found the manga first!"

It was no good. He didn't listen to me.

I immediately sat down at a table and took a deep breath before I began to study as hard as I could.

'Why am I studying so hard? Is it really worth studying so hard for a manga?' I thought. 'Or is it something else...'

I froze for a second before shaking the awkward thought out of my head. My face went bright red.

'No! No way! You're distracting yourself (Y/N)!'
I tried to get back to studying and forget about it.

Once I had finished studying, I found L nearby the entrance to the library, flicking through a book he found on that shelf.

"Hello (Y/N). I saw you studying hard. Good work", L said.

"Yeah. All done for today!" I reply, avoiding eye contact as my face goes a light pink.

"That's good then."

L took the manga out of his back pocket and handed it to me but as I went to take it, my fingers brush gently against his. I quickly take the manga and my eyes drop to the floor.

"I'm sorry!" I say to him.

Yeah, I don't think it was the manga I was studying for...
