Autumn Affection

To look at your face would be to know the truth,

Yet I cannot look away.

Your eyes, as brown as the curling, crunchy leaves in Autumn

Tell me the kindness in your soul.

They plea for me to do something.

Your lips, curled slightly, red as blood

Beg for one more kiss, yet we both know that if I grant you it,

They will crumble.

The paleness of your face suggests the time we have left:

Not much, but enough.

I cannot look away.

In that moment, your face has never looked more radiant

And my heart aches.

To look at your face would be to know the truth:

That I am already in love.
