She sleeps alone
With the slight breeze caressing her hair.
It spills out over the pillow,
Down her shoulders and back.
She is waiting, waiting, waiting,
But for what, she is unsure.
Her lonely mind is filled with thoughts of summer and beaming smiles,
Whilst her subconscious lifts her away from reality.
Finally, her waiting ends and she finds her lover.
Already in the summer breeze.
A smile is shared, a glance exchanged,
Before she is dropped again,
Down, down, down
And slowly realisation dawns:
She sleeps alone.
