Taeyong:"Kamsamnida!" I shouted into the microphone in my hand. The whole group gave a bow and while I was still bent over, someone poured their bottle of water over my head. I shot up, intending to punch Haechan in the arm but it was Yuta grinning at me, with his bottle empty. I laughed quietly and shook my hair out like a dog. There were shrieks all over the stage as everyone got hit by my spray. Yuta just laughed and came over to hug me as the stage walls closed around us.
"I'll get you back eventually." I said to him.
"You can try." He replied and sauntered off to pick on Winwin. I still had a lump in my throat though. In the past month, nothing had changed much and it was starting to grate on me.
The MC for this event as well had only asked me questions about Yuta. There hadn't been much music promotion at all besides the recording we had just finished for the small audience in the room behind us. I shook my hair again and tried to calm myself down. Kun was standing in the corner alone looking stressed so I went over to him."You OK?" I asked. He looked up at me and nodded briefly.
"Ah, yes... I'm just texting the Rookies. They had their screen tests today." He said with a smile. The Rookies, YangYang, Xiao Jun and Hendery were all set to join us soon for the Chinese Unit Mr Soo Man was hoping to debut by the end of the year.
"Did they have fun?" I walked out with him to the dressing rooms.
"Yeah. They loved it." He tapped his phone. "They can't wait to meet everyone all together.
"Mmm. We should organise something. When our schedule is less busy." I told him and he hummed before Chenle dragged him off to ask about something or other. I don't know at this point in time who the leader of the Chinese Unit would be, but for now it looked like Kun would be a good fit. The younger members looked up to him a lot already.
The ride home was chaotic. Taeil's birthday had been a few days ago and it was like the Dreamies were still high on all the sugar. Renjun and Jeno were bouncing on the chairs. Jaemin was conducting a mock interview with Mark, asking him what it was like to be roommates with Haechan. God, I just needed some peace and quiet. Yuta called out to me when we got back to the dorms but I ignored him and made for the common room.
"What's going on?" Jaehyun asked me. I was sitting outside on the balcony on a sun lounger.
"Nothing." I said and folded my arms over my chest. I wasn't cold. I just felt better with my arms around myself.
"Bullshit." He came to stand in front of me. His broad shoulders covered most of my view and I sighed in annoyance.
"Jaehyun - "
"Don't Jaehyun me and answer my question." I raised my eyebrow at him but he didn't budge and I cracked slowly. Why shouldn't I talk to him? He was probably the only person I could talk to besides Yuta. My Adam's apple bobbed up and down while I tried to find the words.
"I think... I think." I blew out a breath as my eyes started to sting. It hurt. "I don't know what to do." I finished with a shrug.
"About what?" He leaned back against the railing and I pulled my cap lower down over my face.
"People don't take my music seriously any more. I'm worried it'll ripple to the whole group."
"What are you talking about?" He frowned. "Our manager said your sales are great. Everyone loves your music."
"Do they? Or are they just hoping I'll get on more shows so they can gossip about my private life." I rubbed at my chest. Was I getting heartburn?
