"I surprisingly had fun Nicholas." I say quietly, picking at the taco salad that was in front of me. I glance up at Nick and he had a small smile on his face. I roll my eyes and look back down.

"Me too." There was a small silence before Nick speaks again. "Why don't you like me?"

"I should be the one asking you that question!" I exclaim. Nick licks his bottom lip as he stares at mine.

"I never hated you Abby." Did he just-

"So slamming the door in my face last week was you messing around?"

"I'm just abiding by your rules." I lift an eyebrow. "It doesn't matter how hard I try, we will never be a thing. This will never be a thing. Ring a bell, Princess?"

"The day we met... When I told you we'll never be friends or even more than friends." Nick nods as he takes another bite into his burrito. "You remembered what I said."

"Words like that kinda take a toll on someone." I bite my lip deciding whether or not I should make a change. I take a deep breath and tightly grip the fork in my hand as I speak.

"Can we start over?" Nick looks up at me with wide eyes.

"Wha-?" He says with food still in his mouth.

"Can we... start over? Stop being mean to each other. Actually have conversations." Nick smiles widely and nods.

"Nice to meet you Abby." He says holding out his hand over the table. I take his hand in mine and smile.

"Back at ya Nick."

Nick

Abigail and I finish eating and we were on our way back to her apartment. We slowly saunter down the sidewalk and I drape my arm around Abigail's shoulder. "So you wake up every morning and get to see the sunrise?" Abigail nods with a small smile on her face. "Sounds nice. I wake up to Brandon every morning, and he is not pretty." Abigail giggles and pokes my side.

"Halie and I got the better genes from mom and dad."

"Yea I can tell."

"Do you... want to come with me?" Abigail asks rubbing her arm.

"You'd let me?"

"Y-Yea, I mean... it could be our- our thing, I guess." I pull Abigail closer to my body and smile.

"I'd love to." Abigail stops walking and I glance up to see that we were standing in front of her apartment. I let my arm fall from her shoulder and stuff my hands in my pocket.

"Meet me here tomorrow at 4:50, okay?" I nod and smile as I look down at Abigail. She bites her lip and my legs go numb. "Well, I'll see you later Nicholas." I watch as Abigail walks into her apartment and out of sight.

Abigail

I hated how my stomach filled with butterflies when Nick was close to me. The way his hand ran up and down my arm as he pulled me closer to him. This boy... he has no clue how crazy he makes me.
