James ignored Kiera the whole week, refusing to answer his phone and hardly spoke more than two words when they were together.
She eventually gave up.

“Why are you being a jerk?” Liz questioned James.
“What are you talking about?” James played with his straw.
“Why are you ignoring her.”
“It’s not my fault she didn’t want to come for lunch.” James shrugged.
“I wonder why. Brad and Bianca are getting drinks, so tell me what’s up.”
“It’s for her own good.” He finally spoke.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
James sat there in silence.
“James!” Liz was angered. “Replacing her, and making her feel awful is supposed to be for her own good.”
“Don’t.” James was burning red.
“All I’m saying is to acknowledge her presence James, you can’t just walk all over her.” Liz was more calm.
“You don’t think this is killing me. Do you honestly think I am happy?” He was flaming.
“Then do something about it.”
Brad and Bianca made their way back to the table.
“Hey, you okay?” Bianca asked James whose face was burning with anger, she also noticed his hands curled up into fists.
“Sorry, I forgot I have to do this thing.” He stood up and walked out the restaurant.
***
“Kiera! Open the door Kiera!” James banged on her door.
He turned the knob and surprisingly the door swung back.
“Kiera?” He said again.
He walked in but Kiera didn’t seem to be insight.
James wandered into her bedroom, the bathroom door began to open and he realised his mistake.
Kiera stepped out with only a bath towel wrapped around her, with a quick glance at James she screamed clutching onto her towel tighter.
“Shit, sorry.” James quickly spun around.
“What the hell are you doing?!” She screamed when she realised it was James and not a serial killer.
“You should really learn to lock your door.” He replied.
“Get out!”
“We need to talk.”
“What? No, leave.”
“B-but”
“I said leave James.” Her voice was firm.
He lowered his head and started towards the door.
“Kiera, I know I’ve hurt you and I’m sorry.” He turned around, he truly looked sorrowful.
“James, it’s fine.” Kiera tied the towel around her chest.
“Really?” He stepped closer.
“Ya.” She stroked her wet hair behind her ear, refusing to make any eye contact.
“Why are you hiding Kiera, tell me what you’re feeling.” They were inches away from each other.
Kiera looked up at him with his glossy eyes.
“You know what the worst feeling is?” She asked. “Watching someone lose interest in you.” She blinked hard.
“Kiera-” James began.
“I get it, really.” She let out a smile and walked back to the bathroom. “I gotta change.” And the conversation ended as soon as she shut the door.
James, in shock, unable to move, stood there. His mind was processing what she had said. She’s got it all wrong, he thought in his head.
After a few minutes, Kiera came out dressed in light jeans and a band tee, her damp hair was thrown in a high pony tail. She noticed James had left, she did not expect to him to stay either way.
Kiera made her way to the sofa with a soda. As soon as she laid back her front door swung open so quickly she almost choked on her pop.
“James what are you-“
“You’re wrong.” He looked almost angry , and extremely puzzled. “I never lost interest in you, exact opposite actually.”
“James I don’t need your sympathy, honest.”
“Sympathy? No, Kiera. You know what the worst feeling is?” He dragged his fingers though his hair. “Meeting an absolutely incredible person and knowing that there is no point of growing closer because you’ll never see her again. Don’t you realise how painful it is, and how much harder it’s going to get when I’m actually not going to be living next door.” He took a breath. He looked down in sorrow. “I thought it’d be easier if I forgot you, distract myself, but I can’t.” He finally finished.
Kiera was sitting up. Her eyes were watering and she knew if she blinked a tear would fall so she tried hard not to even though it was building up. Without saying a word, she ran up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. He put his arms around her waist and brought her in closer.
“Wanna watch a film?” She whispered.
“As long as it’s horror.” He replied.
Kiera grabbed him a pop and they settled down on the couch
