The very next day, the moment we entered the school premises, the school was already buzzing. Students from left and right were giggling and whispering, gossiping and chuckling. The main news was the transferee's coming!
I had a full grasp of information about him when I came home last night and chatted with the bunch. Apparently, he was from Germany, he was quite mysterious, coming from Isaac's ex-classmates themselves. He was a little bit aloof and unpredictable, and he basically lives in his own world with his own rules. The teachers aren't very fond of him, but he couldn't care less. Nevertheless, Isaac was liked by both girls and boys because of his interesting personality.
My friends managed to gather that much information about him in a span of a week.
Anyway, when I and Travis arrived at school, he never left my side.
"Aren't you going to your friends?" I asked him while we walked towards the entrance, going to the classroom.
He answered immediately. "They're busy."
I tilted my head with a grin. "Really? Even though they're just sitting under the tree over there? With an evil look?"
Travis sighed. "You don't want me to be with you?"
Looking at his face, I felt guilty, since he looked like a desperate puppy. I chuckled. "No, I was just surprised that you chose me over your male friends."
He huffed. "Oh please, they're not even half as important to me compared to you."
I bit my lip, resisting a wide smile. I, however, noticed a gentle and happy feeling amidst his crude comment.
"Well, thanks for the compliment and everything but are you sure you're going to be fine with Gia and the others?"
He smiled, a very kind one, and nodded. "As long as you don't leave my sight."
I giggled. "What, I'm not going to be kidnapped, aren't I?"
He didn't reply anymore and only asked me, "Hey, is it alright for me to place my arm over your shoulders?"
My eyes widened out of surprise. "Why so suddenly?"
I tried not to feel too embarrassed, but the thought simply made me anxious.
Travis blushed a little. "Is that your rejection?"
His blushing face was adorable, and it made me want to kiss his cheek, even though that would be a little too much. I didn't know what to say, nor feel. Is this a trick question? Aah, what should I say...?
"I guess -"
My reply was cut off when we both sensed someone's presence.
That someone spoke.
"Travis, hey."
The two of us looked at the man. He wasn't wearing our uniform yet, just a green muffler over a brown jacket, white shirt, and black pants, so I thought that he could either be a guest or a transferee. He was around Travis' age, which was 17, just a year older than I was. He had beautiful black hair, the color of ashes in an undercut style, and his skin was fair and seemingly smooth. His eyes were a shade of blue, and he was tall. All in all, he was handsome.
He had a hat on too, which was quite peculiar, as it wasn't just any cap.
I looked at Travis' reaction, but surprisingly, his smile abruptly changed. It was the same expression he had when I mentioned his father; cold and...neutral.
"Isaac."
I didn't know which surprised me most; the fact that the transferee knew Travis, the angst in Travis' voice as he mentioned his name, or the fact that the transferee was right in front of me.
