It was the night they arrived at school and Jasmine was in much relief to be at what seemed to be her real home. Tonks sat next to her at their table, talking amongst themselves.
Dumbledore stood and caught everyone's attention. He did his usual welcomes to everyone, and his warnings for the first years. Jasmine looked up at the teachers and spotted her favorite professor.
His face was emotionless and cold, something she knew was the way he presented his self. She loved the other side of him, even if it was only a little bit of it she got to see.
The food appeared and everyone indulged in their great feast. The children chatted and laughter filled the Great Hall.
This was Jasmine's fifth year now and she was hype to have another year for new opportunities. She was aiming for certain goals this time and she was determined to follow them through. She wanted to make new friends, she wanted to see if she can apply for next year's apprenticeship, and she wanted to get to know Severus more.
Her eyes wandered back to Severus, who was engaging in a conversation with McGonagall. She felt a tug at her sleeve and turned to see Tonks looking at her in disbelief.
"Really? You still have a crush on him?" she giggled.
"No! I just....admire him?"
"Mmmhmmm, yea you're admiring him alright." she teased, making her blush.
Dinner was finished and all the students headed out to their dorms. Tonks and Jasmine decided to stay up for a little bit longer. They sat on the couch in front of the fire, looking through their schedule for their classes. Well....Tonks was.
"Jasmine and Severus sitting in the tree, k-i-s-s-"
"Hush up. You're always making fun of me." Jasmine pouted.
"And you're a girl with her head in the clouds. Did you hear anything I said to you just now?" Tonks asked.
"Umm...no?"
"My point exactly. I said that we only share 2 classes together."
"That's a bummer, we got Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Astronomy. We only share History of Magic and Transfiguration. Well, it'll be fine. I'm more worried about taking our OWLS this year! I got to really focus."
"Oh great, thanks for reminding me." Tonks groaned,"I need to get to bed, come on."
As if on cue, Jasmine yawned from the exciting day and went to bed. She didn't want to be too tired on her first day of school.
When they got dressed for the night, Tonks went to sleep while Jasmine couldn't. She had to admit, she was stressed out about a lot, but she knew she will excel if she tried her hardest.
Fifth year was usually one of the hardest and important years. This was the time she really needed to figure out what she wanted to do in her future.
She stayed up for about an hour and eventually she wandered downstairs back to the common room. It was only 10 o'clock so it wasn't too late and lucky for her the room was empty.
She remembered to take her new novel her parents bought her for her birthday and brought it down with her. She settled on the couch, the fire illuminating the room for her to see.
She read about 3 chapters when she heard someone call her name. It was soft, as if it didn't want to be found. It sounded familiar and she tried to figure out why she was hearing the voice.
"Jasmine!" it whispered harshly. She jumped at realization and look down at her mirror.
"Professor? Hi, I'm sorry!"
