[ 3.6 | MOTEL CALIFORNIA ]

A DEEP FROWN formed on Daisy's lips when the bus pulled into the parking of the coach's chosen motel called the Glen Capri. Isaac had been right to assume they would not make it to the cross-country meet before nightfall. And because they were too far from Beacon Hills to simply turn around, they were all forced to stay the night in what could possibly the dirtiest place known to man.

Daisy adjusted the strap of her bag set on her shoulder as she descended the steps of the bus. She stopped when she noticed her friends stood just a few feet away from the open door. She followed their lead, coming to a halt next to them, and stared at the faded siding of the motel.

"I've seen worse," Scott voiced as he appraised the building.

Daisy and Stiles turned to him with a look of disbelief. "Where have you see worse?" the latter asked.

Daisy nodded. "Yeah, 'cause this place is scraping the bottom of the barrel," she said with a light grimace.

"Listen up," Coach called out to the crowd of teenagers. "The meet's been pushed 'til tomorrow. This is the closest motel with the most vacancies and least amount of good judgment when it comes to accepting a bunch of degenerates like yourselves," he declared, holding up a bunch of keys on curled, red bands. "You'll be pairing up. Choose wisely. And I'll have no sexual perversions perpetrated by you little deviants. Got that? Keep your dirty little hands to your dirty little selves!"

Daisy stood back as everyone rushed the man, snatching keys left and right. She looked around and found that her friends were already separated into three different pairs. Isaac and Boyd, Allison and Lydia, and Scott and Stiles. Her face immediately dropped at the sight, knowing that she would have to pair up with a classmate she only knew in passing.

"Hey, Day," Stiles voiced, waving toward her. "Earth to Daisy. You coming?"

Daisy stared between him and Scott as they approached her. "Um, it's supposed to be pairs. You know, two? There are only two beds in a room," she said, indicating the number with her fingers.

Stiles scoffed. "Seriously? This coming from the girl who stole my entire bed the other night."

Daisy rolled her eyes. "It's not like you actually tried to sleep in it. You were on the floor for most of the night."

Stiles stared at her in disbelief. "After you kicked me onto it."

Before either one of them could make another remark, Scott stepped forward and captured their attention. "Okay. It doesn't matter if you slept on the floor because you wanted to or not. Let's just go before all the good rooms are taken."
