Flashforward, April 20, 2010.
For a while now it's just been me and Juan on the adventure. Ivory has taught us a lot. Now, I and everyone believed it was time to go our separate ways. It's been almost a year and a half now it feels like. I was so used to being around them every day and growing as one.
But it was time to leave the nest and find development somewhere else. I took charge and led the way. I ended up taking us to a jungle. As we walked through there were animals in the shadows making noises. There was loud screeching, exotic bird calls, cricket sounds, and growling.
Easy to say we immediately wanted to turn around but my gut which usually gets me in trouble, said to stay. The fear which keeps us alive has its downfalls while rising to the challenge can show true character. My recklessness has always been my main cause of trouble I guess.
Juan is always ready for anything it seems. We begin to walk through and immediately start sinking.
I and Juan stare at each other, " Juan, rain plus quicksand equal apocalypse."
Juan stops moving, laughs for a second, "Really Chucky? At a serious moment like this where we could die."
I stop fighting the quicksand and look for the nearest branch, "If we die, we die brother. No more regrets is the promise of this new-found freedom."
As I grab the branch, I hear Juan yell, "Ouch!!"
I pull in the branch towards us, tie a little off to my shirt, "Juan what happened? Everything ok?"
Juan starts struggling and beginning to sink even further, "Whatever bit me was small but hurts like hell man."
Juan sinks into the quicksand and I dive inside to grab his shirt. I cannot see anything and it's hard to move but I managed to grab him by the hair. I tried to pull the tree branch in and to create an under-surface motion. My plan fails utterly and we both begin to fall further towards mother earth. I feel the light fading away so closely.
The branch is somehow being pulled up. We both make it out, eventually, getting put on land. Everything was blurry, and it was extremely hard to breathe like I was suffocating. I felt a jacket touch my face. I wiped across my face until I could see clearly.
I saw three figures standing on top of us. I got on my feet and threw the jacket at Juan, "Thank you for saving us and everything but just who the hell exactly are you three?"
The one with long silky hair came towards me, "My name is Daniel. The one on the left is Matthew and the right is Dominic."
I help Juan get on his feet and throw the jacket at Daniel, "I'm sure it was you who had the jacket. So, what's next?"
Daniel points toward the path, leading straight into the quicksand. My jaw drops as they start swinging through vines like animals. I and Juan try to mimic what they're doing but utterly fail multiple times hitting our faces on the trees. Since we owe them, I figured why not. We're all going in the same direction anyway.
We managed to make it completely through the jungle. Right outside of the Jungle was a giant campsite filled with hundreds of people.
Matthew threw a rock into the quicksand, "We are the survivor's guild."
The gate opens, and we proceed to walk through. I immediately get drop kicked and noticed it was by a girl. She had beautiful gray eyes and black hair. She wore some warrior like clothing that was too revealing in my opinion. Everyone was dressed like warriors, but some were different.
It was quite interesting. A lot of people came up to us and greeted us with welcome and nice to meet you. The village which was west of the island already had a different vibe.
We were taken to a tut that was located directly in the middle of the village.
A strong man came out of the tut and ended up in front of me, "My name is Tatum and I am the leader of this village. I welcome you in peace but be wary of every decision you make from here on out."
I shook his hand, "My name is Chucky. I and a couple of others were trying to make a change, a difference. Some odd organization didn't want that. Regardless what sacrifices it came with. Loss of family, friends, and home. We still made it thus far to survive. There is so much we can still do. For the better cause I'm tired of embracing craziness."
Tatum has someone get a chair for us, "Life doesn't stop here. We had a truce with many other tribes and villages but they all failed. I'm taking a huge risk giving you two a chance, but I digress. Now I'll tell you the story of how this place was created."
"Back home, on a different island, with different people. I was in school one-day and boom there was an explosion. The school got raided and captured everyone. The teachers were taken somewhere, and the children were taken to a discrete location. I and a couple others escaped and decided to build up a place for the escapees right here called survivors guilt."
"My story is all about trails we've suffered to make it thus far. There is peace, eliminating the era finally that was long ago established. Something of us so needlessly deserves. We have fought one another so long."
Tatum escorts me out, into the tut where sick Juan was lying down. Juan looked half dead at this point. I didn't want to give up on him.
I touched his forehead, "He has a terrible fever. I'm, sure he was bitten by something. A poisonous insect to be exact. Please, there has to be some way to help my friend."
Tatum gathers a search party consisted of Matthew who is a great plant tracker. I and Matthew leave shortly after I give Juan a hug and tell him to hang in there. We walked around for a good few hours until we made it to an area full of herb and plants. We search and search around the woods for hours but cannot find these certain blue herbs. All throughout that search, we end up at some cave a few miles away from the campsite.
There are loud ticking noises inside the cave. Matthew insisted we continue somewhere else, but I followed my gut. As we walk through I Immediately notice the blue herbs along with green and orange ones as well. I grab the necessary herbs and run back towards the exit. Matthew stayed behind for good measure I guess.
An explosion happened deep inside the cave. The collision caused the cave to begin to crumble. A rock hit my shoulder and I fell hysterically. I blacked out. I awake outside the cave in the middle of the night.
I look around to see where Matthew is and he's nowhere in sight. I look at the crumbled cave and notice his wedding ring is located on top of a rock. Matthew just died for a stranger he just met today. Honorable but foolish I guess we all die who are or live long enough to become a totally different person. I owe him two now.
I put his ring in my pocket on top of the herbs and begin to run. As I run I notice there are people coming this way and immediately take cover behind a giant oak tree. They were people from Survivors Guild going towards the direction of the cave. They corner me into the woods firing and shooting at my surrounds. I hide behind the nearest bushes.
A gun muzzle is directly put on my head and I put my hands up, "You got me. I surrender."
"I better get a fair trial."
Damn, someone is trying to frame me. Who has an agenda against me? The six men take me back in handcuffs. As they're taking me away I notice a mysterious figure in the shadows. Yeah, run now, once I find you, your fucking dead whoever you are.
