Present, November 2, 2008.
I left the interrogation to everyone else and began walking towards Andrew who was looking at the minuscule map that was in hands. Andrew seemed sad even though it was given to him by Lloyd before he departed. He walked over to the window and reflected on his chilly surroundings. This camp reminds me of Iron Forge; filthy and has large field views. It's a place that encourages the tendencies to feel sad.
Then he saw something in the distance, rather someone. Andrew gulped. He glanced at his own reflection.
I went up to Aubrey, "How was the search? Was everything alright?"
She walked past me and went straight to Sid who was saying, "This Island hasn't changed any of us at all. You still are the same cold-blooded, snotty, cocoa drinking with spiky eyelashes and wobbly elbows girl that I remember. I'm just a guy who once helped a deaf guy cross the road."
I left out the small enclosed friendship circle; leaving everyone else in there. The wind was blowing like laughing hamsters, which easily irritated me. Andrew was stepping behind me and so was Aubrey. Andrew had a loud glint in his eye. Aubrey gazed with the affection of 8840 hungry puny puppies. She said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want closure."
Andrew looked back; looking even more irritated and was now fingering the minuscule map. "Aubrey, I'm your friend," he replied.
They looked at each other with worried feelings, like two puny, purple pigeons thinking at a very tight-fisted rave, which had indie music playing in the background and two smart uncles shouting to the beat.
Andrew seemed to be studying Aubrey's curvaceous eyelashes and red elbows. Eventually, he seemed to take a deep breath.
"I'm sorry," began Andrew in apologetic tones, "but I don't feel like its safe getting close to each other when we can die at any moment. We have all lost everything that made us whole; it's not right to love when nothings there anyway."
Aubrey looked stressed; her emotions raw like a rotten, rancid rock.
I could actually hear Aubrey's emotions shatter into 5655 pieces. Then she hurried away into the distance. It doesn't look like not even some hot cocoa would calm her nerves tonight.
Andrew came walking over to me, " Tamara can you help me figure this whole map stuff out. I've had previous training on reading them and stuff but I don't really have experience. Sorry in advance if I find what I'm looking for and get a little happy."
"It's alright Andrew let me see the map."
I grab it and take a look at the locals of the island.
"It seems there's a big ocean swerve along the east coast district of the island not too far away."
Andrew grabs it back, "That's going to take us quite a while to reach that destination which means we're going to need to start hunting and planning."
I laughed and began walking away, "I'll leave the planning to you."
I put my hand in my pink blossom coloured hair and began walking into the distance. I continued getting further and further away until I ran into someone who was looking for us. He immediately cross-lined me and caused me to fall back.
I got back up on my feet, "Hey who the hell do you think you are."
The guy picked me up by my shirt, "I'm the grim reaper but people call me veto. These islands are our little playgrounds that will provide us with much amusement. I can't really say for you guys, though. Oh, by the way, we're crooks. "
This isn't going so well, I thought. I grab his nose and twist it and then he throws me at a tree. My back feels it's been hit with an iron.
I get back up again and hear him,"Let me made you a proposition. I know what these people whom have done all this are really after and I can assure you it's something big. Work with me and I'll make sure you get the protection you need."
I laughed hysterically, "Work with you? You couldn't even handle a little damsel in distress like me. What could you possibly have that I wouldn't already know?"
He clapped, "Correct but guess what; there are hidden entrances and mysterious secrets all around that only I know. Hanging with those kids are going to slow you down and even worse get you killed. I know you can protect yourself but just imagine; you're the survivor. In books, the ones who survive are the ones who take every opportunity that comes their way to ensure survival."
I waited for a little time past, before even considering getting involved with a convict but what he was saying was true. I went up to him and shook his hand with disgust. I swallowed my pride down the drain and spit it out on the grass. We began walking near a cave. I saw an old man who was sleeping inside of it.
Veto points with his index finger,"He's the key but right now isn't the time to act."
I began to hear shooting and yelling in the distance. Someone was saying "Sid!!!"
I quickly dashed towards the direction of it and saw Sid get stabbed and pushed off the cliff with my very own eyes. The guy who I used to be best friends with in elementary school was dead. As I began walking away I heard laughing in a few bushes that were twenty feet away. I walked towards it and saw Greg who was laughing. Last time I saw him; he was running away like a coward.
I went behind him and knocked up side his head causing him to faint.
Then while he was asleep I stomped his face in, "You're a damn disgrace; laughing at another's misfortune like that."
I left him there and went straight back to the cave sighting. Veto wasn't there anymore and neither was the old man. He must've gotten caught while being in this insensible hiding spot. Regardless I think it's about time I leave and go back to the group. I stop dead in my tracks and remember that if he's gone it'll come right to me because I'm already away. I sat back down and waited eventually ending up falling asleep.
I opened my eyes and saw Sid coming out of the cave and quickly dashed towards him. I was standing in front of two bushes getting a little glance at him to see if he was alright. He was bandaged and hurt so I knew he would even recognise me still but it doesn't matter.
Just as I was about to say something he falls straight on the ground,"Damn Sid you're a dead man if that's all it took to hurt you."
I hear someone coming so I went back into the hiding spot. The old man from before was coming in with supplies. He picked Sid off the ground and carried him back into the cave while looking back to make sure no one followed.
I looked at my hands, "Where's that damn Veto."
I felt two hands touch my shoulder and I jumped. It was Veto.
I smacked him on his shoulder,"Don't play with me like that. If I had a gun I would've blown your head off."
He smirked, "Oh yeah I'm sure you would've. Hahahaha I've been searching around for something to eat and couldn't find anything. There are animals that inhabitant this island; I know this because the people in charge specifically said. This island is fresh and untouched by human influences which mean in the market we'll be a beast. I added in the beast part."
I smacked him in the back of his head, "Enough chit chat Mr Crock; let's get a move on."
So we continued onward...
