"Holy heavens, what are we going to do now? Uncle King is gone, and so is Uncle Prince," Ace whined to Eca, who was sharpening a hand-crafted knife. He doesn't have any weapons, and Earth is a dangerous place- especially when he was this vulnerable.
During the fight, Tovuu shot the middle of his stomach, and he hasn't healed completely yet. He had many injuries from many fights he's been in over the last month; gunshot wounds, stab marks, broken bones, you name it, he probably had it. Without his uncle, though, he was probably not going to survive with just him, his brother, and these Cloud freaks. He sighed.
"We find them, we're smart."
"They're in Shiftsnow," Envy chuckled. "They're not going anywhere." Shiftsnow was an extremely tough prison, which hasn't ever had any escapees to date.
Lawrence looked around and jumped behind the counter, grabbing a gun that was stored for the clerk, who was dead on the floor. He tossed it to Alvah, who caught it, startled. Lawrence didn't know much about guns- except the whole shoot-y, kill-y thing. "I hope you know how to gun down a man."
Ace walked around the front counter and into the back silently. He was very slick and very quiet when he moved-- it was almost like he wasn't even there. Ace and Eca took many lessons in their free time on Earth when they were little. Eca always excelled in those lessons, taking them very seriously. He returned with a large gun, sliding over the counter carefully.
"There's a man back there," He whispered quickly. "He's watching a small screen with Bløød's picture. He has headphones on." Bløød and Flapjack were on the news, with the title 'BREAKOUT OF DEMONS? SHIFTSNOW COUNTY'S TOP SECURITY PRISON BREACHED.' Bløød was a brilliant hider when he wanted to be.
Jorn smiled and shifted, the first time he's moved since they got there. He's very easy to forget- he never makes himself known to people around him, even though he was certainly an odd sight with his large bleach white wings. "Eca, if he didn't hear the gunshots and the yelling, I don't think we have to worry about him coming back here."
"He was packing up," Eca said. In the back there was sounds of shuffling and coughing. He knew he had to kill him, but how would he do that without making noise?
"I've already confused the police by erasing their memories of the scene, we don't have to worry about getting caught by some human calling the police."
"But just in case."
Jorn sighed, lifting his hands. There was a choking sounds, followed by a large thump. Alvah went into the back of the building and picked up the body, dragging him to the front of the room, next to the bald man. Lawrence looked at him, there was white powder coming from his mouth. There was no evidence of how he was killed. Brilliant. Eca made a hmph of approval and sat in a plastic white chair.
"How do we find a master of disappearance? Bløød is literally brilliant, I don't expect you have a tracker on him from his past career of crime?" Eca looked at Jorn hopefully, but he shook his head. He didn't expect that was going to be the case in the first place; it'd be too convenient.
"We can't do much of anything to catch Bløød, but finding Flapjack may be easier, and that boy has bloodhound senses for his brother," He said.
"I'm sure this won't be too hard, Bløød's a demon. You can sense his presence, can't you?" Lawrence asked. Even though he didn't know much about demons, he can sure do a mighty fine job using his common sense. They put on a show earlier, revealing some things he didn't know yet. Their behaviour told him that they can sense one of their own species. Being a demon's pet sure did benefit him.
Jorn shook his head again. "They're smart, they probably masked it."
Lawrence's shoulders slumped and he sat on the cushioned windowsill. He knew a lot less about his new family then he thought he did. What a pain. "Then it's hopeless."
"It's not hopeless, but we may have to blend in with the human society. With how advanced their technology is compared to the last time we came here, they're sure to catch a few leads and hints Bløød and Flapjack may drop for us. They know we know more than humans do, and they can tell us a story with the clues, when to humans it's useless abstract trails that they think is just laziness to cover their tracks," Ace mewed confidently.
Lawrence smiled. There's still hope for them yet! "Okay, but the humans aren't going to post every single snapped twig and overturned leaf on the news, how are we going to get front-row access to the clues?"
"We join their investigation teams."
"You mean we all get a job?"
"It's our only chance," Azazel said, then chuckled. His laugh sounded like a hyena, Lawrence noted. "It's a quite intelligent plan, I have to admit."
Envy spoke up, "They're going to notice that a whole glob of people are joining the police team, don't you think?" Alvah gave her a dirty look and whispered back and forth with his brother, making her a little self-conscious. They did it on purpose, sometimes when they don't like someone they'll whisper to each other and laugh, making them think they're talking about them- when in reality they're talking about dinner, or telling crummy jokes to each other.
"That's why we're going to spread out," Decided Jorn. "We have to cover as many places we can, just in case they move."
Lawrence whimpered. He was new to this whole demon thing, and he didn't know much of survival, since he's been living with others for a while. Independence wasn't his thing. "I don't reckon that's a good idea."
"I agree with Lawrence. We have to stay together for survival. None of us know much about this planet," Eca commented. He doesn't know how to be alone anyways, Ace was always by his side every step of the way. The brothers can never part.
Azazel and Alvah nodded in agreement, their dark maroon eyes filled with fear. Jorn growled in frustration, turning to the doors. It's times like this he wishes his brother didn't always run off without him; they were great emotional support for each other.
"Fine. We'll all get jobs, then. Lawrence and I will join investigation bureaus, you all can choose whatever jobs strike your fancy. I suppose you and Ace could work as veterinarians for the kicks. Well, also because it pays well, and you're cats." Jorn smiled. He ignored the eye daggers sent from him by Eca.
Eca has always gotten annoyed when people assumed they were cats; they're fennec fox mutants. If he had a bow for every time he'd had to explain he was a fox, he'd be swimming in the coins. "Foxes," Eca corrected hotly. "And how do you know all of this Earth information? Other than that, it sounds like a solid plan."
"Brochure I found on the street," He explained. "Alright. Once you've found a job, meet back here." He threw a mop at Envy, giving her a cocky look. "You can clean up after your dead friend here." He flung open the door and called over his shoulder; "Let's get to work!"
