Lucy's POV
It had already been a day since I talked to the Master about Natsu and the others. A back-up party was sent out this morning, but I knew they wouldn't make it in time. I knew I couldn't do anything, I was still glued to this bed! But even in pain I was getting antsy. I needed to do something, something to help, but I couldn't!
Sitting up I looked at Levy, they had moved our beds next to each other so we could have some company. She wasn't hurt very badly, a slight concussion and a graze on shoulder. At least she could walk around now, so she left me bored.
Tossing the sheet aside I snuck out of bed, I could rest at home, much more relaxing there than here. So I crept past Mira who was giving orders at the bar, others sitting at tables and slipped out the door. On my why there I had to stop a few times from light headedness or dizziness, as I was sitting on a bench catching my breath I gazed into the forest and I saw something. Something blue sticking up from above the tree line. It didn't look like a building and I knew there wasn't a town over there, also it gleamed like it was made of liquid. So obviously not something you see everyday.
It wasn't too far into the forest, I'm sure I take a quick look then head home. So I crossed the street and waltzed into the trees. Making sure I was walking in a straight line I walked in a quick pace, which wasn't helping my current state. But I pressed on, determined to see this, not really knowing why.
As I walked the trees started to become mangled, roughed and even further some were knocked down. Then I saw it. In a clearing of flattened trees I saw a giant monster. It had wings, a tail and was bright blue, the color of the sky. But it shined like water as the light reflected off it. Every part of its body was smooth and slippery. Then I saw red, coming from its side, it was hurt.
I ran to it, clutching my side in pain. Then I saw the front of the beast, I gasped and held mouth in terror. It was a dragon.
Ignoring the fact I ran to its wound, it was almost the size if my leg. Despite the facts, I couldn't just lets this magnificent creature die. I pressed my whole body up against the wound, blood pursing from it, now soaking my clothes. The dragon flinched, but to me it was more like a violent kick. I was tossed to the side, lying there trying to recuperate my strength I sat up. Looking around I wondered what I cold use for a banged that big. I staggered back to the tree, tripping over fallen logs and picked hundreds of leaves. This wasn't going to taste good.
I put them all in a pile, grabbed a handful and plopped them into my mouth. I chewed the bitter leaves until they became a thick paste. Trying to wipe off the excess blood from the wound I caked the pasted on the wound like a plaster. Having to do this dozens of times my mouth was sore and the only smell of taste was sap. But in the end I had covered the entire wound and stopped the bleeding.
Lying down in a patch of grass I exhaled. My back was exploding with pain, I should take it easy for now. Looking at it I noticed that it had reopened and was bleeding through the bandage of Natsu's vest. I still couldn't believe he had given it to me. He had even ripped into little strips to wrap tightly around my mid section. Since when did he become smart?
Out of the corner of my eye I saw the dragon lift it head. I could feel my heart beet faster, which only lead to more blood seep from the wound in my back. The dragon noticed the "bandage" and started examining it. Then it turned its head to me, my eyes wide with fear I froze.
What if it was hungry and I was just a willing snack that happened to be dumb enough to approach?
It stretched its head, moving closer towards me, sniffing my hair and clothes. Breathing heavily I tightly closed my eyes expecting the worst. Then it stopped and the head withdrew. Hesitantly I opened my eyes to see a wonderes sight, the head was bowing down in respect. To me! A low human, I was a meal to this thing, not a high authority.
Shocked, I could only stare, sitting with my legs bent behind me, arms limp at my sides. Then the wonders kept coming as a soft angelic voice chimed through the air.
"Thank you. Even though you are injured you helped me, a monster to your kind." Her bright blue eyes twinkled in the sunlight. "My name is Eleanor, I am the dragon of the sea and all sources of water."
"Ah...ah..." I still couldn't speak from the event that had just occurred.
"Don't be afraid, I will not hurt you. I must show you my gratitude." She bowed again.
"No!" I snapped out of my flimsy state. "You don't have to do that. Its just leaves..."
"No I'm sure I do. Besides you look like you are in need." She smiled, if a dragon could smile, she did.
"Well...there is nothing anyone can do about it now. It's done, they're gone!" I felt the tears flowing down my face and soon it turned into a full sob.
"There there." Eleanor wrapped het tail around me and brought me close to her shimmering stomach.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to wrap you up in all my troubles."
"Not at all. Tell me what is your name little one."
"L-Lucy." I sniffed.
"Lucy...what a beautiful name. Who are these people that are already gone?" She asked.
"N-Natsu and the o-others, they left for t-the dark guild yesterday." I cried.
"Natsu, why does that sound familiar?" She mumbled. "Also Lucy, I sense some dragon on you."
"What?" I looked up to her face, not knowing what she was saying. I looked around my body trying to figure it out when I found something white resting on my shoulder. I picked it up, it was a long like a hair, but thick and corse. It was white and had a few black lines going across, just like...
"Natsu's scarf..." A strand of his scarf was attached to his vest when he gave it to me.
"Yes, thats it. Thats is dragon made, where did you get that?" She questioned.
"It is from Natsu's scarf that he got from his father, Igneel." I couldn't take my eyes off the strand, for an odd reason it had me in a trance.
"Igneel?! Thats where I head that boys name! He is Igneels son!" She looked at the sky.
"Yes?" I motioned.
"Igneel is one of my best friends. He can be a pain some times, but after a while you get used to him." She joked.
"Wow, really! You know Natsu has been looking for him for years!"
"He knows, but after you have a foster child you cant come back to this world. Its forbidden." She sighed.
"Oh, well I am sure there is a way for us to get there. But wait, how did you get here?"
"Well, I never had a chance to have a foster child and came looking for one. But while I was flying I was shot down." She motioned towards her wound.
"I'm so sorry!" I gasped.
"Its nothing, though I don't have scales like the others I do have something they don't. But more on that later." She started to stand up, which shook the ground and rattled the nearby trees.
"Wait, what do you mean later?" I tried to keep my balance.
"You Lucy, are going to be my foster child. I will teach you the ways of the water. You were kind to me and this is how I will help you."
