I woke up to some good news - I now had 46 followers and 45 reads! I was making some progress. I had to remind myself that this was only day 3 and I couldn't be expecting much at this point.
I had worked out what was stopping the reads from growing - it was the cover! It didn't really match the mood of the book, and so was attracting the wrong readers. I made a temporary new one, but enlisted the help of an actual cover maker because the cover really does have a huge impact.
I posted another chapter, because remember the more chapters you have the more reads you can get! I became even more selective with who I was following - following only people who I felt like would actually enjoy my book.

I was stuck in a rut. I had reached 50 followers, already halfway to my goal. But my reads were still on 46 reads. This was frustrating. How could I further advertise this book? I didn't want to be that annoying person who asked people to read my story, but also I felt like no one was clicking on it.

There was me thinking the day was done at 7pm, but no! I began to employ another tactic at getting people to notice me - the simple act of reading other people's books. I wasn't going to pretend to like someone's work in the hope that they would return the favour of voting, but I just so happened to stumble across a new work but an unknown writer that I fell in love with. I could have just read it and enjoyed, but I decided to vote and comment as well to alert them of my presence. Three minutes later I had a message in my inbox - I think I've made a friend!
Stats at the end of day three:
49 reads
52 followers
Lesson learnt: Be nice to people - karma will reward you!
