What the f@*k has just happened? I thought as I stared at my read count on day 27, barely able to contain my shock.
I was on 2,000 reads.
Wait, what?
There had been a surge in reads overnight, and of votes surprisingly due to a few new readers.
Sitting now on double what I had hoped to get during this challenge, I began to ponder at what point things turned. There must have been one point, one exact thing I did which meant that I was no longer just getting 20 reads a day but now 400. It must have been the cover, I put it down to that.
I ACTUALLY SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THE NEXT SURPRISING THING.
Ah, so this was why I was gaining reads so fast. I was being freaking ranked #10 in a tag with over 1,000 books, and a tag I knew was super, duper popular. Holy shoot. I actually couldn't get over this. This was like the biggest thing that has happened to this book the whole freaking time, and I didn't understand why. It wasn't even like my book had gotten loads of votes overnight.
This cannot be happening, I said to myself as I saw that I was ranking above books with millions of reads. This was crazy.

It was the end of the day. I checked back on the account and saw that I've gone back to being ranked #605. That made more sense. I practically choked on my own spit when I saw my read count though. Due to being ranked #10 for a couple of hours I had gained over 600 reads in one day.
Encourage your readers to vote, because if you can be ranked your chances of gaining reads is massively increased! This was such a random event, and I feel like it may have skewed the natural progress of this book, but I was so freaking happy that I was being recognised so early on.
Statistics at the end of day twenty seven:
2,700 reads
125 followers
Lesson learnt: Sometimes the most random things will happen and change everything.
