You and Astro had begun your journey to the Sugar plum fairy. You were still questioning everything that was going on, pinching your arms every few times you needed reassurance that this wasn't all just a strange dream.
Right now, the two of you were walking through a snowy field. It was basically a blizzard when you first started to walk out of the magical crack from inside your house and into the outside world of toys.
You shivered slightly. Who knew the walls of your house could be so cold? Well, at least you thought you were still in your house. You honestly didn't know anymore.
"I'd give you my blazer.." He Looked down at his coat and knocked on it. Wood. "But I'm afraid I can't take it off." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"That's okay.." You smiled sadly. "I'm sure it looks better on you anyway." You laughed a little. There was a moment of silence, which was quite awkward if you had to say. You decided to speak up and talk about something. "Sorry about before.." you apologised. Astro lifted an eyebrow up at you. "My younger brother, Lucas. He kind of, sort of snapped your leg.." You glanced down at his leg. It seemed to have healed, or maybe your grandfather was just that good at fixing things. Wait- could Astro even heal?
"Oh, right. I forgot about that." He chuckled a little. "It's alright. I'm okay now." He smiled, stepping a little closer to you. "But if I remember correctly.. someone stared to cry over it." He glanced down, wondering how you would react.
"E-Eh? Oh.. hehe.." You turned away. "I guess I did cry a little bit." You laughed nervously while getting red in the face.
"It's nice to know you cared about me even though you had only held me for under about 5 minutes." He smiled a little.
"Hm, well, I always connect to things my grandfather gives me." You shrugged. It was true though.
"Are you close to him?" Astro asked.
"Yes. I'm not supposed to say this but he is my favourite family member." You whispered, making Astro grin and hold back a small chuckle.
"It would be nice to have a fami-" Astro was cut off from your gasp. He hadn't been looking in front of him, only looking at you. Taking in your features.
"Astro.." you covered your mouth. He followed your gaze and then found himself gasping too. It was a town, it was like a glass town, and you could tell it was glass because it was all smashed and shattered. You shook your head. "We need to see if anyone is hurt!" You said, running over to the distant town. Astro followed behind you. Wouldn't you be too afraid to see what had happened? Maybe you were braver than he thought?
"My lady! Wait! There could still be enemies in the town!" Astro ran after you. Although you didn't listen. You just wanted to get out of the cold snow and this was the perfect moment to do so. After you had stepped on the pathway you could help but wish you didn't. The destruction was worse than you could have hopped. Some houses were even still burning. It broke your big, innocent heart. All of the toys that resonated here must have been killed in some inhuman way. You took another few steps into the town and shivered, the air was dry and smelt like death mixed with fresh coal.
"Astro.." You looked up to him as he resumed his place next to you. You felt sad and almost felt like crying. After all, what if these were your toys that you had lost and forgotten?
"Come on. Don't loose hope. Let's look around for survivors." Astro have you an empathetic smile.
"Yes.. Let's go look around." You rubbed away any incoming tears.
"Let's split up. I'll look for people over here, and you go the other way." Astro pointed to his left and began to turn that way to walk.
"Wait-" you grabbed onto his wrist, making him stop in his tracks. He turned back to you and gave you a questioning look. "I want to walk close to you.. I-I mean, what if it's still dangerous?" You asked. Astro smiled and took your hand in his.
"Then we can walk close." He said, letting you get closer to him before walking again. You smiled bashfully and walked with him, looking any other direction than at Astro, too afraid he might catch you checking him out. You both kept quite, trying to hear any type of noises. The only noise that was heard was the crunching sound beneath both of your feet. As you looked around, you couldn't help but feel like you saw something move in the corner of your eye. You slowed your walking down enough to make Astro do the same. "See something?" Astro asked, almost in a whisper.
"Yeah.." you nodded, leading the way. Astro glanced at where you were heading with a bit of worry. He tugged your hand lightly, making you turn back to him.
"Where did you see it?" He asked.
"Over there." You pointed towards what you saw had moved. Astro nodded and stood in front of you. You let out a small 'Oh!' As he protectingly stood in your way and unsheathed his sword. The nutcracker began walking closer until you both had reached a small shelter like thing. A bit from a wall of a house had been broken off and placed on the side of a tree, like a poorly made cubby house. Once you both had inched closer, you heard sobbing of what seemed to be a little girl. You gasped and pushed Astro to the side, to get there before him. You ran over to the sound of crying as you pulled open the broken cubby.
The small girl that resonated inside had black hair that much reminded you of Astro's. It was shaped in two lower horns that looked as if they were supposed to look like a bob hair cut. Once the light had shined onto her glassy skin, she gasped and scrambled back. Tears still rolling down her cheeks. "No! No leave me alone!" You gasped, almost having a panic attack at her reaction sudden. You crouched down and made sure not to move too quickly.
"Don't worry.." Astro said, moving closer to her. "We are here to save you, we wont hurt you." He gave her a friendly smile. "We are going to protect you, okay?" He said. The black haired girl looked at the both of you in surprise. She seemed a little weary of you but Astro she seemed to trust. Who wouldn't? He was a solider after all.
"Thank you!" She cried, latching onto Astro with a hug around his waist. "Thank you for saving me!" He didn't hug her back, he kinda just lifted his arms up in surprise.
"Can you tell us your name little one?" You asked in your most soothing voice possible. She stopped hugging Astro and then nodded, drying her eyes with the the sleeve of her dirty dress.
"Y-Yes. I am Uran." She spoke while sniffling. "I had just hidden here because of some nasty wind up toys had started to burn our town." She looked down at her own trembling hands. "They broke everyone.." She mumbled. She then looked back up at both of you. You placed a hand on her shoulder. "I want to see my mommy!" She cried out, hugging onto Astro once again. Astro looked at you with sympathy filling his eyes. You looked around at the damage and huffed with determination.
"We can get back your family Uran." You said, placing a hand on her back, rubbing it gently.
"H-How?" She asked, peaking out from under her small hug. You smiled at her kindly as the sun set seemingly behind you, making you look almost Goddess like from Uran's short view.
"We are going on a magical journey to find a beautiful fairy." You tried to make your trip sound as appealing as possible to Uran. After all she was just a young girl.
"Fairy?" She asked, her tears stopping from falling.
"Yes. She will make your dreams and wishes come true." You nodded.
"She will give me a family?" Uran asked, moving away from Astro to you.
"And she will restore your home back to its happy place." Honestly, you had no idea if the Sugar plum fairy was real. Or even if she was going to grant all of your wishes! But all that mattered was giving this small doll hope. She needed it, desperately.
"Then I want to come with you! I want to give the Sugar plum fairy my wish!" She held her hands together on her chest.
"Then come along now." You stood up, placing your hand out for her to use to pull herself up. "We need someone strong like you for our journey."
"You do?" Uran asked, her eyes suddenly glistening like stars.
"Yes of course." Astro nodded and stood up too.
"Then I will come!" Uran took your hand to pull herself up, but she continued holding it. "We must leave immediately! we have to stop the Robot King before he hurts anyone else!"
"Yes." Astro agreed. "We must.."
