I don't know what to say. Alec Romano is the leader of a highly illegal drug operation and who knows what else. An eighteen-year-old has the respect of hundreds of men in the palm of his hand. I feel like my feet are going to fall from under me. He steps in the light and it feels like a bullet straight through my chest. There he is. Green eyes and all. He's wearing a jet-black three-piece suit instead of his usual leather jacket and high-top sneakers. It looks like he is trying to play dress up. His hair is neatly combed back instead of his regular shaggy style. The more I look at him, the angrier I become. And what's worst, I don't even know why I'm so upset about this. It's not like I expected him to be some good guy who volunteers at nursing homes.
"And a hello to you too Beastie," Sami smirks.
"Sweetheart," he smirks back, giving her a small antagonizing nod.
"This is your operation?"
"That's right. You like?"
"It's a bit cold for my taste."
"Better for the drugs if they are in a cold environment."
"Well, it's better for Sami to be in a warm environment," she yawns.
"I'll keep that in mind," he says genuinely.
"Am I missing something here?" Michael asks, sounding both confused and concerned.
"Michael hush, the big kids are talking," Sami teases.
"Then who invited you?"
"You don't have to be so defensive all the time you know."
"And you don't have to be a bitch all of the time."
"That's just my nature buddy. Love it or leave it."
"Where's the nearest exit?"
A shot rings in the air. Michael is the only one who ducks. Alec places the handgun into his back pocket.
"What's up with you guys and all of this shooting?" Sami rolls her eyes.
He shrugs, "Easiest way to get people to shut up."
"Or cause a panic," Michael whimpers, still looking around as if expecting another shot to be fired. Alec shrugs again.
"Can we go home?" Sami asks. Now starting to become annoyed.
"I'd have to kill you," Alec responds. There is no emotion in his voice.
Michael lets out a nervous chuckle, "You wouldn't do that..."
Alec pulls out the gun and points it at Michael's head.
"Oh..." Michael whispers.
"Exactly," he snarls.
"Ok Beastie we get it," Sami rolls her eyes. "You're mister big bad."
He rolls his eyes and scoffs, running his free hand through his hair, "Oh honey, you haven't seen bad yet." The room is still cold.
"Mr. Romano sir...," Michael whispers. "We'd really like to go home...."
Alec's whole aura changes. His hand grips the gun harder. His finger on the trigger. I watch his muscles tense up. His breathing hardens. For some reason, I am not scared.
"Mr. Romano is for my old man. My name is Alec," he growls.
"Yes, sir!" Michael straightens up.
Alec sighs, lowering his gun, "Wait here," he grumbles.
"Are you going to kill us? You're going to kill us, aren't you? Dear God, we are going to die. I told myself to stay home! I knew I shouldn't have come!" Michael spits out. He runs his hands through his hair (which desperately needs a haircut) and periodically leaves them on top of his head. He begins to pace back and forth. I merely watch him sympathetically.
