"Sami I really don't want to go," I groan from my bed as I watch Sami sift through my closest.
"I know you don't, that's exactly why you are going in the first place," she says in a motherly tone.
Liam Fender's Halloween party...what more is there to say? Everyone gets drunk and or high and you normally never leave with the shoes that you walked in with. And that's if you even make it to the front door. Half of the time, people are already so buzzed that they just stay outside. The inside isn't any different except that somehow, it's darker. His parents pay the surrounding neighbors to keep quiet, so we've never had the cops called on us. More surprising is the fact that no one has ever died at any of his parties. Injured or pregnant...well, that's a different story.
"Why are you making me go to the stupid party? Everyone is going to be drunk and high there."
"That's kind of the point El."
I watch as she tears through my closest searching for anything that might look somewhat appealing. Wait let me rephrase, looking for something that could end up getting me laid. My style of clothing is typical for an average teenager, but for Sami, everything I wear makes me look to like a nun.
"Don't you own anything black?" she asks, her nose buried into a pile of sweaters.
"Why do I need something black?" I pout, trying to figure out what she is scheming.
"Because black brings out your eyes. Plus, it's sexy," she holds up a black sweater in the light before throwing it to the side.
I almost choke on the air I'm breathing, "Why do I need to be sexy?"
"For Alec of course."
I definitely choke on my air, "What?"
She lets out an irritated groan and turns towards me, placing one hand on her hip and pinching the bridge of her nose with the other, "Alec clearly has a thing for you El."
"No, he doesn't," I protest.
"Yes, he does. You may not be able to see it, but it is painfully obvious."
"And what if he does?" I entertain her theory.
"Then you need to wear something sexy so that you can get laid," she turns back to my closest and continues her hunt.
"Why would I want to get laid? Alec and I aren't like that."
"And what are you two like?" Daring me to answer the question.
"You know..." I choose my words carefully. "We are just friends."
"Friends, who like to hug and kiss and hold hands and be with each other all of the time?"
"At least I don't fuck my "friends" like some people."
"Oh honey, those aren't friends. Those are late night calls."
"Are you calling Alec a late-night call?"
"He could be if you wear his lace black dress," she smirks holding up a short lace fitted black dress.
"Cute but we are going to a Halloween party and that's not a costume."
"Of course, it is, you can say that you are going to the funeral for your virginity."
"Sami!"
"What? El, when was the last time you got laid?"
"Why does that matter?"
"My point exactly. And Alec seems like a nice boy."
"Did you forget that he runs a mafia?"
"Did you?"
