"Come on," Alec said as he walked into the lounge room," it's time for us to go to school."
"Really?" I whined, "I do not want to go."
"Katie, we really need to go to school." He said softly.
"Egh." I replied and sighed still not moving.
"Katie, we can not stay here all day and besides, that's not fair to Blake. He already left."
"He'll never know that we stayed her for the whole day."
"Yes he will Katie. Blake is smart."
"Can't we do something else?" I groaned.
"I guess we could always go to Our Place." He trailed off softly.
"Yes!" I rejoiced as I jumped up, "can we please do that?"
"Of course we can." He said with a smile.I pulled him into a hug and smiled into his chest. He kissed the top of my head and pulled me closer.
I looked at his arms. Colour was coming through. I reached out and rubbed at the colour, and it started becoming more prominent.
"What is that?" I asked.
"Ah, nothing." He replied pulling his arm away from me as he let go.I felt something on my fingers and as I looked at it I started rubbing my fingers together.
"Is that makeup?"
"It could be." Alec replied.
"Are you hiding something?" I replied peering around his body.
"No," Alec replied, "just drop it."I looked down at the ground. We stood there for a little while in silence but this time it felt like forever.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Yeah of course." I replied.Alec picked me up over his shoulder. "Alec," I laughed, "put me down!"
He opened the door and shut it with his foot once we were through it.
"Nah, I think it's best if you stay there," he replied walking away from the house.
"Can you make tea again?" I asked.
"I'll make hot chocolate." He replied.
"Even better." I smiled.I watched as Blake's house faded away into the distance, bouncing with each step that Alec took.
Oooo~oooO
When we got there he placed me down on the stairs. He walked inside and I followed behind him. He had already started making the hot chocolates by the time I had sat down. I smiled.
As he poured the warm water into the cups I smelt the sweet sweet aroma of chocolate fill the air. I took a deep breath and let the smell fill up my lungs.
He placed the hot chocolate on the table in front of me and took his own seat. I wrapped my hands around the cup and put it up to my lips. I could feel the condensation on my lips. The chocolate heated my hands up from behind the cup.
The rich smell from the chocolate wafted up my nostrils and I took a deep breath to completely let the chocolate relax my body.
I looked at Alec before taking a sip. Chocolate with a hint of hazelnut swirled on my tastebuds. I smiled.
I placed my cup down and realised that I had drunk almost the entire drink. I decided to leave it there so that I could savour it for a little bit longer.
Alec smiled at me. "Do you like it?" He asked with a coy smile.
"Of course I do." I said with a smile. He smiled happily and took a sip of his drink."What's on your arm?" I asked expecting him to ignore me or shrug me off.
"Tattoos." He replied quickly.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes, really."
"Can I look?"
"There's makeup over them." He said shifting his eyes to the ground.
"Why do you put makeup over them?"
"I'm just trying to be a normal seventeen year old." He replied.
"Define normal." I replied.
"I can't," he replied, "there is no such thing."
"Exactly," I replied, "stop trying to be normal."
"You don't understand." He replied.
"Can I just have a look?" I asked.
"Why do you want to?"
"Because, I want to know everything about you."
"Katie.. I do not think that you should.. know everything about me just yet."
"Alec.." I said softly looking down at the table. He could see that I was upset, and he reached over and placed his hand on top of mine. Instantly, I interlocked our hands. I looked up at him, and watched as he pulled up a washing clothe off of the back of his chair and passed it to me.
I smiled. He let go of my hand. I stood up and walked towards the sink. I turned the sink on, and made sure that the water was like warm so that it wasn't going to be too cold on Alec's skin. Once the clothe was wet I turned the tap off and rang out the clothe.
I walked over to Alec and he handed me his arm.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked. He nodded. I was concerned that he only did this to make me feel better.
"You know," I started, "if you do not want to do this. We do not have too. I do not want to pressure you."
"No," he paused, "I want you to do this."I pressed the clothe on his skin softly and slowly washed the makeup away from his arm. He had a lot of strange symbols on his arms.
"What are these?" I asked.
"Oh, those," he replied, "they are tribal tattoos. They are from my tribe." He smiled.
"You're tribe?"
"Yes my tribe. Tribe Kucennuki."
"I haven't heard of them." I replied with a sigh.
"They aren't very well known, but most people who know about them said they could change themselves into wolves."
"That's just a rumour," I paused, "right?"
"You never know." He said with a smirk. But it was different than usual. This smirk seemed to imply that he knew more than he was letting on, and it made me feel uneasy rather than happy like it usually did.Changing the subject I asked, "Who did these?"
"My dad." He replied.
"Your dad is pretty talented." I replied.
"He didn't like to use colour," Alec replied, "I had to convince him to colour them in."
I smiled. "My other arm only has unfinished symbols on it," Alec said, "they all have meanings. Great meanings. My father used to tell me that there was no reason to get a tattoo unless it meant something to you."
"You'll always have a part of your father with you. Since he did all of these." I said. He smiled.
"I guess I will."
"Your father sounds like a smart man."
"He was a smart man." Alec sighed.
"He was?" I asked. I felt like I was poking deep inside him. The part I wasn't suppose to know about. The part no one knew. I felt bad asking him all these questions but I truely wanted to know more about him."My father died." Alec replied. I noticed he was starring at the floorboards. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."
"Yeah, I'd rather not."
"Yeah." We sat in silence. Neither of us knew what to say."Blake and I are going to go shopping tomorrow. Did you want to come?" Alec asked.
"Yeah," I smiled, "sounds fun."
"Alright."
"I'll ask Blake if he can pick me up." I laughed.
"Yeah," Alec laughed, "he's picking most of the boys up."
