Just like any other day, I started it off by freshening up then making my ice coffee. For now, my life only consisted of work, ice coffee, and my best friend Jaren. I couldn't really rely on anything else.I lived in a small, awful apartment in the suburbs of New York. There wasn't much out here besides a couple of stores, some houses and a few tiny apartment buildings. I moved out here to get away, or try to at least, from all my problems.
I moved out here with childhood best friend, Jaren. We met in middle school and have been as close as ever, since. Luckily, he lives in a townhouse not that far from my apartment. We are together practically everyday.
I finished making my ice coffee as I sat down at my desk to start my day. I continued on editing my CS:GO video I had started the night before. Ever since I was young, I envied video games. I would always play them to get away from reality and go into my own world. Now, its my job and I couldn't be happier about it. YouTube had really come in clutch.
Around three fourths of my way editing my new video, my phone started ringing. I stopped editing and picked up the call. As I picked it up, I realized it was Jaren.
"Hey!" I answered happily as I started spinning around in my chair.
"Hey Charlotte. I was going to see if you wanted to go get some breakfast?" Jaren and I always seemed to get around to waffles. Sure, we went out to dinner and lunch often, but breakfast was our royalty. "Oh yeah, i'm so down. I just got to shower first." I got up from my chair and walked over to my bedroom, still on the phone with Jaren.
"Alright, sounds good. Pick you up around 10?" I looked at the clock as it read 8:45. "Yeah, that's perfect." I started to pick out an outfit to wear for the day as we finished up the call. I quickly got undresses and hopped in the shower.
Around an hour later, I had finished getting ready and was just waiting and Jaren. I smiled as I thought about how lucky I was to have him. I'm not even really sure why we became friends. I was super shy and he was the total opposite. Outgoing, energetic. The thing was, I'm those things too, but I have to get to know them and they have to get to know me before I come out of my shell. I could be a real pain in the ass if you got me to open up my shell. And by that, I mean I would always be there for you.
Jaren was all I had since my mother passed away a few years back. I didn't have any siblings and I havn't seen my dad in years. And to top that all off, I didn't have any other family. Sure, I have a few friends from high school, but we all live such busy lives, we can never really get together.
I locked my door as I walked down the stairs to wait for Jaren to pull up. As I strutted down the hallway, and out of my apartment complex's door, I plugged in my earbuds, sat on a bench, and waited quietly.
I started to think about my YouTube channel, and how I was closing in on 7 million subscribers. I edited every video I upload myself, but I only upload maybe once a week. Its hard as fuck to edit videos and that is the only thing I have learned about a YouTube career. And maybe to not put in certain jokes if you want to make money.
A couple of minutes later, I spotted Jarens car down the road pulling up to the complex. I smirked to myself as he rolled down the windows, blasting Mr. Brightside while acting he know all the lyrics.
"Good morning my love! Ready for waffles?" He unlocked the car as I jumped in the passenger seat. The music was still currently blasting, so I took the liberty of turning it down myself. Sure. I loved music, but it was 10 in the morning and my ears already felt like exploding.
"Hey! My jams!" Jaren reached over to the radio to turn the music back up, but before he could get there I swatted his hand away. "No! Its already loud enough. Leave it alone." I was laughing at the pout sitting on his face as I put my seat belt on.
