A sudden burst of wind hit my back and I was thrown forward into a tree causing me to stifle a groan.
"You're the guy watching those kids, aren't you? Easy pickings." I recognized the voice as I pushed myself off the trunk of the tree and shook my head. It was one of the sand genin from before the exams. She was surprisingly alone.
"Count me out so soon?" I tilted my head at the fan in her hands. Weapons wouldn't work with her if she could swing it fast enough, and I was sure she could.
"You against me? Not even a whole team could stop me." Her laugh annoyed me as well as her cocky attitude.
"Maybe you're mistaking your abilities for the redhead." A gush of wind was thrown my way and I jumped up quickly out of its range and landed on a branch above the attack. Within the next moment I was behind her and Sasayaki lurched forward wrapping herself around the girl's neck forcefully trying to cut off her breathing.
"W-What?" Her strangled breaths reached my ears as I held onto her hands so she couldn't claw at Sasayaki's body as the snake continued to squeeze.
"See, I'm way above your level and I suggest you don't forget that," I whispered softly in her ear. "Don't kill her." As the girl's body went limp, Sasayaki quickly returned to me and I laid the body to the ground beside the fan. Suddenly something wrapped around my ankle slinging me into the air and I crashed into a tree before falling to the ground with a grunt.
"Temari!" Another sand genin. Pushing myself up I noticed the two that were with her earlier. The sand hand let go of my ankle and I frowned as I eyed the two.
"May I be let go?" I asked calmly as Gaara paid no mind to the others or me.
"What did you do to her?!" Konkuro yelled angrily making his way towards me and aimed a punch to my face. Taking the punch, I spit the blood onto his face before carefully wiping the rest of it from my mouth.
"Simply put her to sleep. If you had been here to help her I'm sure things would be different. Another punch, I ducked and infused my fist with chakra quickly punching him in the stomach, successfully sending him flying back from me. The sand around my ankle tightened and slammed me into the ground causing me to cough up blood before it retreated back to Gaara. Pushing myself up shakily I let my eyes close momentarily. Sensing another wave of sand coming my way I quickly infused my feet with chakra and spun around allowing the earth to swallow me as I continued spinning. Sensing the three chakras, I quickly went toward Konkuro's body and pulled him under so that he was successfully buried under the earth and quickly made my way to Gaara. It would be tricky with his sand. I'd have to quickly trade places with him in order to make it out alive. Reaching through the earth I grabbed Gaara's ankle and pulled him down full force and quickly maneuvered my body away from and over his own and buried him under so that I was back at the surface. Taking this as a good a chance as any, I ran for it.
"Sorry guys, seems like I won't be able to check on you after all."
