IN THE DARK CONFINES OF THE LONELY NIGHT, SAGE JONES REACHED HER QUAINT HOUSE IN A HURRY ON HER BLAND BUT EFFECTIVE BIKE. She abruptly tossed her helmet to the ground as soon as she stopped on her bike. She rushed into her abode, slamming the door behind her, the noise making herself flinch even more so than she already was.

Her coat dripped of the pouring rain outside in the local town of Hemlock Grove. She discarded of her boots and ran up the wooden stairs she traversed daily. She reached her room and almost fell to the floor but thankfully, had enough grace to fall onto the edge of the bed.

Her delicate but calloused hands covered her mouth as a rey to conceal her sobs. The tears finally begun to flow down her warm cheeks as a reflex from being held in so long. They cascaded down her skin, slowly and painfully. They became cold against her skin as she let it happen.

She gripped her knees to her chest, not wanting to sparatically the move out of control. The sobs grow louder and more involuntary. Her cries soon became lodged in her throat, unable to even come out if she had willed it.

She attempted to calm herself but it had only resulted in deciding to be silent. The silence clouded the room, being the only thing she can think of.

"Mary, I'm fine! It's just a scratch" Sage spoke into the phone that had Sister Judith on the line.

"A wound is just a scratch?" she asked incredulously after having heard the exact explanation.

"I mean—a wound is technically a scratch, if you really think about it!"

"Sure, Sage" she hummed as she put her keys into the lock of her house.

She had been just doing her daily chores for the day, grocery shopping, cleaning, and most of all, organizing a fundraiser for the orphanage. She was still one of the head care-takers after almost ten whole years on board. It was a great occasion for her and Sage. After all, Sage always helped out when she could, after school or on the weekends. Sometimes, even Roman would tag along but only really because Sage asked him to.

"Anyways, I'll drop by the orphanage tomorrow, maybe I can bring some treats"

"Please! The kids would love it and obviously, you" she exclaimed, glad she even had time to do so.
