MONTHS AFTER SAGE'S OWN PERSONAL STRUGGLE OF LIVING WITH MARY'S PASSING, THE PUBLIC FINALLY KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. Officially, an unknown assailant stabbed her several times and left her alone, bleeding out. To most, it was horrific but somehow fate. Like most dumbasses, they believed she got the short end of the stick because of Sage, seeing as she was the 'freak baby' of Donovan and Vera.
The funeral was publicly held three weeks after her passing and initially, Sage was organizing most of it. To those around her, it was quite the surprise that she held herself together so greatly. None of them knew what had happened prior to the numerous articles and the funeral itself. Of them all, Roman was utterly shocked.
He learned that Sage had been there with Mary in her last moments when he had gone to stay over at her house. He felt horrible but he just knew ── he knew, that something had been going on with her. Nonetheless, he felt horrible for his best friend. He had spoken to Mary every so often and was quite sure she didn't deserve to die, but he was no stranger to death.
From nine-thirty in the morning to three in the afternoon, the funeral was in motion. Sage, Roman, Taj, Victoria, Jacob, and most of the town had come to pay their respects. William and Kaya had attended it as well, but had arrived die to some bullshit lie Sage easily detected.
Mary helped so much of the town. She left such an impact that it really showed in those who attended the funeral. Everyone had said a few words in respect for her. Of course, Sage had more to say than any other of them. She had tried to put her heart and soul into her speech, hoping some words could express her agony. Although, she did plaster a sad smile or a blank expression so that her true emotions wouldn't come out.
She had held the same kind of expression for about a month but it was routine by the time the funeral was over with. Courtesy of Olivia Godfrey and even more so, Roman, Sage & her siblings, they were to have dinner at their mansion. Olivia and Roman had only met Taj but her older half-siblings, William Gilbert and Kaya Mai at the funeral.
They all reluctantly accepted, seeing as Olivia wasn't their favorite individual but at least it would take off the focus of Mary from Sage's mind. Only two hours after the service, they drove over to the luxurious house, knowing the neighborhood well enough.
"Are we sure we wanna go to dinner with Satan and satan jr?" Taj asked almost skeptically with his colorful nicknames for them.
"Could you not complain for a day?" Kaya fired back, with her own brand of sass.
"Let's just focus on how we can move on with tonight, okay?" William pleaded, looking over to Sage as she rung the doorbell as she actively ignored their bickering.
