Skier Town
Skier Forest

My hands dipped into the freshwater lake of Skier Town. The bag carrying my workload sat peacefully on my back. It wasn’t heavy but walking home for 20 minutes was exhausting, especially when I had to babysit the whole day. It was the only way to earn money before I turned 16. Babysitting twins was my far-fetched job at the moment, and thankfully, I had enough patience and my mother instinct not to kill them. I have Lucy back in the abandoned warehouse, and I told myself over and over again that I was doing this for the both of us. She needed to be safe from the hands of the Rogue King and I can never risk that from happening.
The breeze carried my tied brown locks as it flowed to my back. It was around 7 in the evening. I knew since I witnessed the sunset myself and it occurs at 6. The forest was the only thing that was making a lot of noise. The noise was something that never bothered me as a wolf. I was sitting on top of a rock and simply closed my eyes for a while.
I needed this.
The peacefulness that the forest provides.
But I knew that hoping had a sick trick of defying my wishes and often pushed me towards the violence and the havoc. My ears ringed drastically and it was high time that I heard the violent footsteps from a mile away. Judging by the number of steps per second, there were wolfs. At first, my instinct told me to run, take Lucy, and drop by another town but this time, I listened to my nose. The scent washed through me, and I could certainly say that there were two wolves. Only one of them is a rogue, and the other one had a distinct neutral scent. The scent of blood started to fill into my nostrils and with this, I ran in my human form that could be taken as wolf form by anyone. I was there in less than a minute, the scene befalling in front of me. A musky small brown wolf and a larger dirty brown were brawling, the larger one easily defeating the one beneath him as its jaws were locked to his side. I could tell that the larger one was the rogue and with the anger in my veins, I pushed him off of the musky brown wolf, cracking its head. The wolf fell limp to the side the moment I realized my claws retracted and my eyes darkened itself, and I have forgotten the small wolf before me.
I kneeled down to the wolf and slowly, it started healing. He shifted on its own, revealing a thin guy with dark brown hair. He was naked all over and my first instinct was to reach for my bag, taking my extra clothes and handing it over him. It was an over-sized t-shirt and shorts.
While he was changing, he brought his gaze to mine and now I noticed the hazel color of his eyes. Gazing into them felt extremely warm, like home. Not to mention, his features were well-defined and he was about my age to be exact.“Do you want to come with me? I’ll have you treated and rested at my place. We wouldn’t want to alert any of the humans and make up some horrible excuse.” The boy weakly nodded, his wound still freshly healing but nonetheless painful. He didn’t speak but offered me a warm cheeky smile.
“Great,” I helped him up and we headed towards the abandoned warehouse. I never really spoke to him along the way. I was never the one to initiate the conversation so it was rather silent when I brought him to the warehouse.
“Lucy! I’m home!” The door creaked at the silence and slight darkness. The faint light was open across the place. I looked around for the 6-year-old, not catching sight of her.
“Lucy!” I wasn’t worried that she was taken but the mere fact that maybe she was hurt. I could sense her presence, and she was near. Unless she was doing this to –
“BOO!” I heard her say but I hardly reacted since it wasn’t me who she frightened. It was the boy who trembled and landed on the floor.
