Prologue
Blood Moon Territory
Palace Halls
11 years ago"VAS! I'm going to get you!" The 6-year-old prince's voice echoed through the vast halls as he chased after his twin sister, heaving deep breaths as he did. Her agility was far more advanced than his and he was the only male out of the siblings. But, she was the fastest of all of them, including their friends. Outrunning her would be a miracle.
Her laughter can be heard in response, "No, you won't slowpoke!" before she was tackled to the ground which was followed by a groan afterward. One of their friends was on top of her, appearing out of the hall nearby. "Gotcha!"
"Kin!" She protested while using her profound strength to push the young future beta off of her. Her agility and strength at such a young age were remarkable, beating the male pups. She was the heir to the throne; no one expected less from the young lass.
"Ow!" Anakin rubbed his chest where she pushed him off. The impact was quite stronger than she had intended. He glared at his future Lead Luna.
"We got ya now, Vas. Thought you'd get away now, did you?" Anakin instantly rolled to the side and sat up to hold the little princess' wrists, not letting her leave. Her wrist twisted as she struggled to remove from his hold.
"Yeah! You think you'd get away from what you did to my face? I looked ridicuwoos in front of June, little cuz." A small pout was evident in Ares' pissed off face.
Eli finally caught up with them and he crunched down beside her laying form. Her lips were curved into a mischievous grin when she saw the look in their faces.
"You're going to pay for this, sis!" A smug look was in his face, contradicting with the pink and purple shade applied on his pale skin.
"Oh yeah? You couldn't even catch up with me, fatty." Vas remarked before ripping Anakin's hold on her and running off once more. She turned to look back and drew her tongue out, "You can't catch me!"
"Hey sis, wait!" Eli frowned at her insult before he tried coming after her but to no avail. He was too slow.
"VAS! COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE-" She covered her ears teasingly, blocking all their protests.
Her legs brought her to her father's study, and once she closed the door she bumped into someone and landed on the floor. "Ow!"
"Vas! What are you doing here?" A concerned voice asked as she rubbed her aching butt.
"Getting away from Eli, Kin, and Ares." She muttered under her breath. She felt her mother lift her up and settle her down on one of the study's chairs beside the table. Her mother, the Lead Luna, sat opposite to her and handed her a cup of water she got from the water dispenser.
Ria crossed her legs and stared at her eldest with a known smile on her face. The Lead Luna was gorgeous, to say the least. She had ginger red hair and once had silver-grey eyes before she even mated with the Lead Alpha. All of the Royal's mates' eyes turn into gold once they have completed the mating process. It shows who they are associated with and the family that they are now part of. Her golden cat-eyes took in every inch of her daughter's features, excluding the shape of her daughter's face; she looked nothing like her and looked everything like her mate and husband, Lexis.
"I'm guessing this is because of your morning hoax...?" Her daughter looked anywhere but her. Ria shook her head and lightly chuckled. She might look exactly like her husband but her clever tricks and pranks definitely came from her.
"Or should I say evening hoax?" She cocked her head to the side and saw Vas's features shift to shock. "How did you even manage to send his guard from his bedroom last night?" She picked her daughter up and positioned her on her lap while pushing her hair to the side of her ear.
"Momma... what..." Her golden-eyes widened in disbelief. How did her mother even know what she was up to the night before?
"I saw you sneaking in his room last night without his guard in his post, little vixen." Vas gave her a wide grin before revealing her recent scheme to her mother.
"I told Wes that Lea was looking for him since he likes her a lot and since I managed to steal your make-up set and Eli was a heavy sleeper, it was a piece of cake." Ria raised her eyebrow at her daughter's bluntness. How did she not notice her make-up set missing?
Before she can even respond to her explanation, she felt a pushing force at the corner of the mind.
'Where are you?' She heard her mate through their link.
'The study. Why?' He didn't reply.
She knew that something was bothering her mate and he was on his way to his study. She kissed her daughter's head before she stood, "Come on and get your books from the library. I'll be with you after I speak with your father."
"Yes, momma." She ruffled Vas' head before she turned to leave through the other door, just the exact moment her mate entered. As Vas closed the door, she heard her father slam something against the table, hearing a crack at the impact. She recoiled at the sound and moved away from the door.
"Calm down, Lexis. Tell me, what's bothering you?" She heard her mother's soft voice.
Vas took off silently, careful not to alert her brother and their friends where she was. A frown crept into her face when she furrowed her eyebrow while she thought of what was troubling her father. What could have been the problem? Was it the rogues that kept on attacking Blood Moon territory again? Or was it packs asking for challenges against the Lead Alpha?
She passed her younger sister's door and as if sensing that she was there, her door opened and heard her calls for her.
"Big sissy? Whew awe you going?" She was still in her pyjamas and her ginger red hair similar to their mother was all over the place. Vas had to hold her laugh at the sight of her.
"Library. Momma and I are going to study." She explained to her before looking around.
"In youw pyjays?" Her little sister asked in a small voice.
She winked at her, "Had to give your big brother and Kin and Awes a makeover. Listen, I need to go before they see me so see ya!" she walked off and followed the direction to the library.
She chuckled, "Bah-bye!" before her sister's door closed.
On her way to the library, she abruptly heard a scream that came from downstairs. She wouldn't have heard it if it weren't for her enhanced hearing. Before taking off to where the scream came, she felt arms around her, bringing her to the darker side of the corridor she's in.
She turned to look at her captor but before she can even have a glimpse, she turned her head back to where she heard her mother's voice shouting for her twin brother, "Eli! Where are you?!?"
"Mum, I'm here!" Her brother screamed.
She tried to call out to her mother but a cloth already covered both her mouth and nose. A strange and odd scent filling her senses.
"Where's your sister?!"
The last thing she heard was her twin brother and mother crying out her name.
"Vas!"
"Sis!"
"VASILIA!"
