Chapter 9
Last night, I had left the party without saying a word to Amy or Blair so I wasn't surprised when I woke up Saturday morning with a gazillion texts from them asking where I'd gone.
I texted them back, saying that I had gotten a headache, but in reality, I just hadn't been in a party mood, which was a first for me. I'd left the party soon after Archer and I had gone inside.
An hour later, there was a knock on the front door.
"Sienna! It's Amy and Blair!" I heard Amy yell through the door.
I panicked since I was still in my pajamas with my glasses on and hair in a bun. I rushed upstairs to my room, leaving Susannah to answer the door.
I shut the door to my room and sprinted into my closet.
"Miss Jewel, you have visitors," Susannah shouted up to me.
"I'll be down there shortly!" I yelled back.
I returned to rummaging through my wardrobe for a casual yet cute outfit. Once I found one, I quickly changed then put in my contacts. After undoing my bun and brushing out my hair, I looked good and presentable.
I strolled downstairs, making sure to look calm. I gave Amy and Blair a small wave, "Hey, girls."
"Where did you go last night?" Amy immediately asked, accusation clear in her voice.
"Yeah, Jake was asking about you. He's pretty cute, Sien. And he's totally got a thing for you," Blair wiggled her eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes, "Remember Evan? I'm going to have to pass on the whole Jake thing."
At the mention of Evan, their faces fell. I scrunched my nose up and asked, "What?"
"Evan's a jerk, Sienna," Amy said bluntly.
I narrowed my eyes at her, "No, he's not."
"If you like him, then I like him," Blair said to me.
I smiled, satisfied.
My phone beeped with a text, so I retrieved it from my back pocket and looked at the screen. It was Evan.
"Who is it?" Amy asked curiously.
"It's Evan," I snapped, putting emphasis on his name.
Amy looked away.
"What'd he say?" Blair asked this time.
I read it then answered, "He wants to hang out with me right now. Sorry, girls. Got to go."
I quickly grabbed my purse and walked out to my car, leaving Amy and Blair alone.
Evan's text had said to meet him for a date at...
Oh my gosh. I didn't even realize where he'd said to meet him. This day was off to a bad start.
With a scowl already plastered on my face, I parked in front of Starbucks.
I found Evan inside, sitting at a table with his phone in his hand. He gave what looked like a forced smile when he saw me.
Sitting across from him, I grinned, "Hey, Evan."
"Hey, hottie," he said flatly before looking back down at his phone.
I cringed at his greeting. I hated being called hot. I thought it sounded gross and degrading. Evan knew that.
"I've told you I don't like it when you call me that," I mumbled, rolling my eyes.
