While I was walking, I noticed a couple cars in the driveway that weren’t there yesterday. I guess I’m not the first to arrive. I said to myself. I went up to the door and raised my hand to knock, but suddenly it opened.
“Hey! I thought you were going to bail on us.” Jake said, leaning on the door.
“I was thinking about it, but I couldn’t leave my neighbor heart broken now could I?” I smiled, hoping that didn’t sound ridiculous.
He grinned back at me. “Well thanks for thinking about little old me. Here come in.” he held the door open for me.
I walked in thanking god that he didn’t think I was a loser. I was also thanking MTV for that line I said.
I looked around. It was empty. I looked back at him. “Everyone is in the basement.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. Can I get you a drink?”
“Sure, whatever’s fine.”
“Cool. So I’ll get you something and you can head downstairs.”
“Oh, okay.” I smiled and opened the door to the basement. Walking down the stairs I didn’t know what…or who to expect. When I got to the last stair, I saw three girls sitting on the couch, Eric, Danny, and some other dude playing pool and two guys playing darts.
“Hey, she came.” Danny said.
“Yeah, why would I want to miss this?”
Eric laughed. “Well if your like those girls over there, all your going to do anyways is sit on the couch and gossip.”
A girl turned around, I recognized her to be Kaylee, a person Jake introduced me to during the day. “Shut up Eric; go back to losing at your pool game.”
Eric looked at me. “She wants me.”
“You wish” Kaylee smirked then turned back around.
“Whatever. So, Megan, want to play some pool?”
“Well I don’t really know how to play.”
“I’ll show you.”
“Um, okay.”
He smiled. “Great!”
He grabbed my arm and pulled me over to the pool table. He picked up his pool stick and put it in my hands. Just like in the movies, he bent over me and took my hands to show me the motions of shooting pool. With his help, I put the 6ball in the pocket.
He was still bent over me. I looked up and him and grinned. “Thanks.”
