THE breeze whistled as brown leaves crunched against chaeyoung's shoes. autumn was here. she promised herself that she would be studying but there she was enjoying the weather while sipping her pumpkin spice latte.

jennie was out on a date with taeyong, jisoo had caught a mild cold and was at home sleeping while lisa was at her part time job at the cafe. the times chaeyoung went out alone were rare but she would be lying if she said she didn't like spending some time alone.

chaeyoung's big round glasses rested on the bridge of her nose as her newly dyed pastel pink hair fell perfectly on her shoulders. one of her hands was resting in the pocket of her beige coat while the other held the cup. a bag hung from her shoulders which contained her sketching book.

chaeyoung loved to sketch. it was always a stress reliever. something about drawing soothed her. though it wasn't possible for her to capture the beauty of nature on a single sheet of paper, she tried her best. chaeyoung never boasted about it and neither did many people know that sketching was one of her talents.

placing her bag down, she sat on the bench in the park which had the perfect view of the scene she wanted to sketch. she took out one of her pencils and began drawing the lines. she hadn't even drawn half the tree when she found zoning out. concentrating was one of her weak points.

a tap on her shoulder snapped her out of her thoughts. she looked up to see a boy with dark brown hair staring at her with a smile stretched across his face. "pasta, you coloured your hair!" jaehyun exclaimed.

"yeah. wanted to change things up a bit." she replied sliding her glasses up on the bridge of her nose.

his eyes landed on her sketching book causing chaeyoung to quickly try to hide it behind her back. "woah, you draw?"

"i'm average." she shyly put back her book in it's bag.

"from what i saw, you're definitely not average. you're really good." he sat on the bench.

"thanks." her ears felt hot despite the weather being no where near warm. chaeyoung was the absolute worst at accepting compliments. what she even supposed to do?

jaehyun looked good just like he did everyday. the brunette wore a black turtle neck under his brown coat. his hair was messily resting on his forehead. chaeyoung resisted the urge to get up and fix it.

"pink hair looks good on you." he said. "not that brown didn't look good on you. every hair looks good on you. you look good." his words were a jumbled mess. he didn't realise he had said until he saw chaeyoung crack a smile. jaehyun mentally slapped himself to get back into his senses.

"well, thank you. you seem to be in a good mood today jae."

"when am i not?"

"during tests. you should've seen your face when mr. kim conducted the surprise test." she laughed at the memory of jaehyun's face contorted into a mixture of anger and helplessness.

"not my fault the old hag didn't inform us about it!" he protested.

"jaehyun, it was supposed to a surprise test. key word : surprise." she said emphasising surprise.

"i don't get the point."

"tests are annoying."

"and yet miss park chaeyoung manages to get the highest grades. how?" he threw his hands in the air in a comical manner.

a few minutes later they found themselves walking around the park having conversations about the most random things anyone could think of.

"do you realise that the brain named itself?" chaeyoung said, rembering one of her three am thoughts.

"woah." jaehyun's eyes widened. "WOAH. i'm shooketh."

jaehyung was definitely one of the few ones who could get those big laughs out of chaeyoung. she usually laughed easily but not the big, ugly laughs that made her snort which were mostly caused by lisa.

as she was laughing at something jaehyun said, she caught him staring. she looked at him and tilted her head to the side as if asking what's wrong.

"hey chae, can i have your picture so that i can show santa what i want for christmas?"

"wh– what?" chaeyoung's stuttering gave away her disbelief. had she heard it right or was her brain making things up? she had no idea.

"have i never told you how much i love pick up lines?" jaehyun chuckled.

"i don't think you did."

"well i like pick up lines a lot. i would appreciate it if humans could communicate through pick up lines only."

"so you would use pick up lines on everyone?" chaeyoung asked.

"yeah probably. everyone except jiae from history class. ugh i hate her." jaehyun pretended to gag as he mentioned her name.

chaeyoung laughed but inwardly she sighed. she had been so stupid to think of herself as special, to think of herself like jaehyun had some kind of romantic feelings towards her.

"why?"

"why not? she's a crazy person and a bully and not the mention the meanest person ever. that girl got no manners either."

"wasn't she the one who seems to have some crazy obsession with you?" chaeyoung remembered numerous times jiae had been rejected by jaehyun. he still managed to reject her kindly even after the stunts she pulled.

"unfortunately yes." he let out an overly–long sigh. "the only girl that shows interest in me is jiae. no wonder i'm gonna be single for life."

"no, don't say that. i know a lot of girls who have a crush on you."

jaehyun didn't fall for it at all. "oh really?" he raised his eyebrows.

"but it doesn't really matter unless you're the one who likes me." he turned and winked at her.

chaeyoung was easily flustered by his actions as red poured into her cheeks. "stop it, you flirt!" she hit his arm.

"oh my god you're blushing!"

"what? no i'm not."

"yes you're cheeks are red." he teased jumping up and down.

"i'm cold!"
