Smile, You're Beautiful

Chapter 12

I went home and took a quick shower and changed my clothing. I stayed for lunch with my parents and told them about what had happened at the hospital. My mom just kept saying oh honey that was close. And my Dad was saying that was really close. I just kind if sat there half listening and half thinking about Tanner and what he would be doing now.

"Are you going to go back there and visit him?", My Mom asked as she washed the dishes after we ate.

"Yeah, and I would love to stay again. But I don't know if I should or not. I will put a pillow and blanket in the car in case.", I told my mom.

"Okay. Be careful.", is all my Mom said before I left.

As I headed to the hospital I received a text from Maddie. At the stoplight I looked at the message. "Hey Em. How you and Tanner doing? I heard you brought him to the hospital. My mom told me."

I just smirked and than sent her a quick text saying that we were doing pretty good and that I would talk to her later.

I entered the hospital parking lot and headed up to Tanners room. As the elevator room opened I heard a loud beeping sound like the one from last night. I started walking really fast to Tanners room to make sure it wasn't him. When I saw his door open and no one in there I was pretty sure it wasn't him. I walked in and found him sleeping soundly. His chest moving up and down calmly. I couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.

"Hey Em.", Tanner said.

"Hey.", I said and smiled.

"You okay?", Tanner asked looking worried.

"You look worried. And yeah I'm okay I just got scared when I heard the loud beeping.", I said.

"Oh yeah that. Well I'm used to that.", Tanner said.

"Oh well that good.", I said.

"Yeah. Hey are you staying again tonight?", Tanner asked.

"Um yeah maybe. You want me to?", I asked.

"Sure. I like waking up with you here.", Tanner said smiling at me.

"Okay than I will. I am just going to have to go and get my stuff outta my car.", I said.

"Okay. Sounds good.", Tanner said.

"Okay. I'll run down and grab my bag. Be right back.", I said as I grabbed my keys and heading down to the parking lot.

I ran to my car and unlocked it. I found my bag in the back if my car with my pillow and blanket. I had also packed pajamas and some makeup and soap that way I don't look bad in the morning.

I went back upstairs to find Tanner watching TV, and eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. With some chocolate milk and yogurt.

"That looks like a breakfast more that a dinner.", I told him as I walked in.

"Yeah I know, but they let me have it! Awesome huh?", Tanner said.

"Yeah. That is pretty sweet.", I said and than sat my stuff on the recliner in the corner of the room. Than went and sat next to Tanner on his hospital bed.

"So what ya watching?", I asked and than looked at the TV.

"I am watching your favorite TV show. Castle.", Tanner said.

"Really? What episode is it?", I asked.

"Um this one is about Bekett's mom's murder.", Tanner said.

"Oh I love this one!", I said now staring at the TV.

"Yeah? Well don't spoil it yet. I haven't seen this one.", Tanner said.

"Haha okay.", I said laughing.

We sat there and watched the show and when Tanner figured out who did it. He flipped out. I was kind of cute to see him react.

After the episode was done Tanner got checked by the nurse and than we got ready to sleep. I put my pajamas on and put my pillow and blanket on the recliner.

"Goodnight Em.", Tanner said.

I walked over to him and sat on his bed, "Goodnight Tanner. I love you."

"I love you too.", Tanner said and than kissed me on the forehead.

I gave him a quick kiss also and than went over to my recliner and pulled the lever on the side and laid down. The nurse than turned down the lights for us and I drifted right off to sleep.
