I left the Cafe and went home to drop off my stuff from the night before. My mom was home and I told her about Tanner.

"Oh Em.", was all my mom could say. She said it with so much sympathy in her face that she got tears in her eyes.

We just talked about it for about an hour.

"So how much longer is he going to be in the hospital?", My mom asked.

"His mom said he was going to get out in a couple nights.", I said quietly.

"Okay. Are you going to stay there again tonight?", My mom asked.

"No I am going to rest. Tanner told me to stay home and rest tonight.", I said starting to cry, "He really loves me Mom."

"Oh Honey.", My mom said embracing me in a hug.

I just sat there and cried for a little bit and than went to take a shower. I let my mind just rest while I stood there with the water running down my face.

After I got out of the shower I got dressed and went to get some flowers for Tanner and than went to visit him. It was about 6:30pm.

I walked into his room and found him talking to his mom.

"Hi", I said as I entered.

"Emma. Hi", Tanner's mom said.

I just smiled at her.

"Hey Em.", Tanner said. I walked over to him and have him a hug and kiss.

"I brought you these.", I said handing him the flowers. They were daisy's, his favorite flower.

"Oh Em. You didn't need to get me flowers.", Tanner said looking over at me.

"Oh but I wanted to.", I said and smiled wryly.

"Here I'll take them.", Tanner's mom said reaching for the flowers.

"Thanks.", I said and handed her the flowers than looked over at Tanner again.

"I'm going to go and get a couple cups of water.", Tanner's mom said, "I'll be right back."

"Okay.", Tanner and I said.

Tanner and I just sat there for a minute quietly.

"You know you don't have to stop the treatment for me.", I blurted out.

"What?", Tanner asked.

"Your mom told me about it.", I said, "About how the treatment isn't working and how you chose to stay home instead of trying the other treatment."

"What are you talking about?", Tanner asked,"My mom told me that the treatment wasn't working and that I only had about four months left to live. She didn't tell me about another treatment."

"She told me that she and your dad talked to you about both.", I said, "Both the treatment not working and how the other treatment was 50% chance."

"No she didn't.", Tanner said as his mom walked in with two cups of water.

Tanner and I just stared at her with frustrated faces.

"What?", she asked.

"Why didn't you tell me about the other treatment!?", Tanner asked.

"What treatment?", His mom asked acting confused.

"The treatment you told Emma about!", Tanner said even more ticked.

She stood there quiet for a moment and than said crying, "I didn't want to risk you dieing sooner than four months."

"But I could do a treatment that could save my life forever!", Tanner said with tears in his eyes.

"I know! But I just......I don't want to lose you.", his mom said crying harder now. I also had tears in my eyes.

"I want to try the treatment.", Tanner said abruptly.

"What?", his mom asked confused.

"I want to try the other treatment.", Tanner said sternly now, "If this one right now isn't working than I want to try the other one."

"Are you sure?", Tanner's mom asked.

"Yes. I am sure.", Tanner said quieter now.

"Okay. I'll tell the doctor.", She said and than headed out to get the doctor.

"I hope this treatment works.", I said quietly.

"Me too.", Tanner said with tears in his eyes again.

I went and sat down next to him and we just sat there quietly waiting for his mom to get back.
