“So, uh, what now?” Kathie asked.
“We have our own things to do around the base. You can just relax for now.” Knuckles replied. The rest of the people in the room left to do there tasks, except for Silver, who didn’t have much else to do. Kathie took a moment to take a breath, she then took herself to the small sheltered area that was outside, and leaned agent on it it’s camouflaged walls. Silver looked after her curiously before silently following behind.
Kathie looked out at the sky, silent in her own world.
Silver looked to her nervously. “So… Is, um… Is everything alright?”
“I guess so.” Kathie sighed, her eye’s still glued on the sky.
Silver looked away, debating if he should continue the conversation. Taking a deep breath, he quietly said, “If there is anything wrong… don’t be afraid to tell me, okay? I’ve dealt with a lot in my world, and I will always be here to help.”
“It’s not that something is wrong, it’s that I can’t keep myself from thinking about what could happen to her- sorry I’m just being worried for no real reason.” Kathie said, she finally broke gaze with the sky, and looked down at the rubbled ground.
“There’s nothing wrong with worrying about a loved one.” Silver replied, rubbing his arm, as he was still quite nervous.
“It’s not that I should even be worried, it just, I’ve never left her alone, since-” Kathie stopped and slowly moved her gaze back at the sky.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to tell me. I understand that we hardly know each other.” Silver glanced to her. “But I still want to help you in anyway I can.”
“I just worry, did she take her pills, is she eating, is she in pain, did she needs me, did she get sick- why do I worry so much, I should be letting go at this point. She’s only seventeen, but, she’s almost eighteen.” Kathie said, he form started to shake a small bit. “And Basil said that he’d make sure she was ok, and I know if anything happened Timmy would find a way to tell me, and she’s so strong, and she’s never had a problem before, but I just keep worrying.”
Silver sighed. “It could take a long while before you stop worrying, and that’s not a bad thing. It just means that you care, and I’m sure that means a lot to her.”
“I’m sure it get on her nerves, I was never like this, and I almost lost her, and now I can’t give her any space. I just don’t understand why I’m the way I am about it, she’s perfectly fine on her own.” Kathie started to shake a little more.
“When you lose someone, it can be tough. You try to figure out what happened, why it happened, what you could’ve done to prevent it. But the truth is that you can’t ever truly know for sure. Sometimes, even the simplest of things can be hard to do when you know something bad has happened in the past.” Silver looked down to his shoes.
“I- I just don’t want her hurt again, and I can’t bare not knowing-” Kathie sniffled, “not knowing if she’s ok, I’ve never been away from her since it happened.” Kathie started to actually cry.
Silver nervously laid a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“I just don’t know how she is, and it shouldn’t kill me but it does.” Kathie sobbed. “It wasn’t her fault, my fault, the guy just had to hit her of all people! Now she’ll never be ok!” Kathie sobbed and choked. Silver frowned, rubbing her back comfortingly.
“I’m sorry, I just, I’m sorry.” Kathie said, as she took a few breaths to calm.
“Don’t be sorry.” Silver smiled gently. “Just like you told Sonic: everything works itself out.”
Kathie looked at Silver, and smiled. “Good throwback, kid.”
Silver flushed slightly, looking away nervously. “Heh, thanks, I guess.”
Kathie ruffled his quills, then coughed. “Well, um, let’s go see if we are needed with anything.”
Silver squeaked slightly at the ruffling of his quills, but nodded in agreement. Kathie started back into the base. Silver followed behind.
Inside, Sonic was stretching, an excited grin on his face. “Man, it’s been so long since I’ve been able to run!”
“Were we out there for that long?” Silver questioned.
“No, one of the STUPID AUTHORS is good at S ranking BECAUSE DO WE REALLY NEED TO FIST BUMP THAT MANY TIMES!” Marklin yelled.
“FUCK YEAH I’M GOOD AT S RANKING! AND NO HATING ON THE SONG!” Lava shouted from the heavens before breaking into singing Fist Bump.
“And you can’t get past chemical plant.” Fire said from the depths of hell.
“We shouldn’t have taught him….” Sonic mumbled. “He’s abusing the power.”
“No actually I am, now let’s get back to this so we can hopefully finish a book completely before the we- fuck. Bye idiots, Marz don’t forget to put on your FUCKING GLASSES!” Fire yelled from the ground, then disappeared into the void. Lava disappeared into the void as well.
“Anyways,” Sonic rolled his eyes. “The weapons base is destroyed.”
“Silver, I need you to go to the luminous forest to gather some information.” Knuckles said, walking in.
“On it, sir!” Silver replied taking a paper that Knuckles handed him and running out.
“Be careful!” Sonic shouted as the other left.
“Well, I guess we just, do nothing until called upon now?” Marklin said, not knowing how to do the filler.
Everyone just kinda nodded.
