Sonic ran up to where Infinite was flying. He smirked, rubbing under his nose a bit. “I’ll be honest, dude. You actually had me worried for a minute! I mean, it was the fucking sun!” He took a moment to glance around before continuing. “But, hey, I got a kiss outta it. Sure, he just punched me after it, but a kiss is a kiss, ya know?”
Infinite simply glared at him. “Pathetic little hedgehog. Even with the phantom ruby weakened, I still have enough power to smash you into blue jelly!”
“Yeah, I don’t think my fiance would like that.” Sonic chuckled, angering Infinite even more.
“I’ll show you how outclassed you really are!” He growled.
“Joke’s on you because I’m in a class all my own!” He grinned. “Time to put up or shut up Infinite!” He then ran and jumped towards Infinite.
Sonic frowned as the fight continued on. He was starting to get a bit tired, but he wouldn’t show it. Finally, Infinite’s phantom ruby started to glow brighter.
“You’re done for, Sonic! The phantom ruby is recharged!” The ruby glew brighter. “Parish, along with your useless friends!”
Before Infinite could do anything, though, Gadget quickly shot at him with his grappling hook, pulling Marklin along with him. Infinite dodged as Gadget and Marklin landed. He glared at the wolf. “You!”
“There are two of us thank you!” Marklin wiped some dirt off of him. Marklin flisked out his arm and summoned his staff. “That makes us doubly tired of you’re crap.”
Infinite growled. “I wasn’t talking to you, repulsive flattened fauna.”
“Says the masked emo punk with an ego big enough to fill a continent who couldn’t pass for a shitty rug with all that shagged up shitty hair gel.” Marklin hissed.
Infinite growled, and Gadget quickly signed a, ‘Don’t you think you’re going a bit too far?’ before Infinite sent a red box at the cat.
“Oh I’m going too far!” Marklin threw off his sweater, and rolled up the sleeves on his dress shirt. Suddenly as Marklin’s eyes filled with tears his staff and amulet started to glow brighter.
Sonic’s eyes widened a bit. “Welp, time to hide, buddy!” He grabbed Gadget’s arm and ran to a safe spot.
“Play with me again, you scrappy piece of meat!” Marklin raised the staff and slammed it to the ground, sending a wave of power through the ground that refocused on Infinite and burst out of the ground at him.
Infinite growled acting quickly and dodging. “You just aren’t capable of handing what I’ve thrown at you. Both of those pathetic hedgehogs couldn’t handle it either. You are all weak!” Multiple boxes formed around him as he threw a few more. Marklin did his best to dodge but failed, once back in reality.
“No I’m not capable of handling it but that doesn’t mean I can’t try and handle beating you! I’m not weak because of my issues or how hard I try to not have them, I’d only be weak if I give up and let them consume me!” Marklin screamed, a large light grew on his staff as more tears flowed down his face, with a quick motion a waft of warm orange power suddenly rode a new wind that formed with a strange correlation to Marklin’s power. Infinite was not quick enough to dodge this.
Marklin stood back up straight and calmed a little as he watched his doing disable the jackal. Infinite fell to the ground, glitching.
“Impossible! I can’t be defeated!”
Sonic grinned coming back from his hiding spot. “Wrong, loser! The things that can't be defeated are heart, soul, and the bonds of friendship. Three things you and your counterfeit cronies lack!”
“No! Wait! I-I can… I can still fight!” Infinite looked to Gadget, almost desperately, reaching out to him before he almost completely disappeared, the phantom ruby on his chest being dragged off to a distant location. Sonic looked to Gadget curiously. Gadget was almost in tears.
“You never fail to surprise me, Sonic.” Eggman pulled up in his eggmobile, he looked over the edge of his flying machine at the three mobians. “I didn't believe Infinite could lose. Victory will be so much sweeter when I defeat you.” Eggman laughed a little, then started to fly off again. “Don't think this is over yet, you blue nuisance. My plan just went into overtime!” The man cackled as he flew off.
Sonic tilted his head. “He’s so eccentric.”
“Oh he’s eccentric, Sonic?” Marklin smirked, flasking away his staff.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sonic questioned, holding back a chuckle.
Marklin rolled his eyes, “Well we better get back to the group, we defeated Killroy.”
Sonic nodded in agreement, already racing back to the group. Gadget frowned, wiping away a bit of his tears and starting to follow behind. Marklin trudged along behind them, he caught up with Gadget and put a hand on his shoulder.
“I’m sorry.”
‘It’s fine….’ Gadget signed, staring at the ground. He sniffled slightly. ‘I hope he’s okay though….’
“That’s not certain, but in this crazy world I’m sure he’s fine, anyways, everything will be easier when this is all over, trust me.” Marklin consoled.
Gadget simply nodded. ‘We should try to catch up with Sonic.’
“As if.” And Marklin smiled at Gadget, starting to run after the blue blur.
