Cass tried her damned to keep up with Sonic but this is Sonic and an old bird to be honest. Sonic was laughing as he ran, enjoying the breeze. To himself, he muttered, "I missed this...."

"Yeah I don't." Cass growled, "I'm gonna get to old for this."

Sonic laughed. "Aw, come on. Don't you just love the feel of the wind against your face? I never thought I'd mis running more than this!"

"Well then, run all you like, I don't have to enjoy- wait I can fucking fly." Then Cass started to do the floating thing from first book. "Alright that's more like it."

Sonic smiled as he continued to run. Eventually, they made it to the outside of Chemical Plant, Sonic stopping and stretching out a bit. Cass landed and huffed.

"This looks like a place that exists." she commented, not really having a comment.

"Ole Eggy's had this place for a while." Sonic frowned. "Jeez, has it seriously been 10 years since he's made this place!? Holy cow, I feel old...."

"It looks just as old." Cass commented, taking a few steps and observing more of this place.

"Heh, yeah." Sonic nodded. "Ready to find the computer room then?"

"Why not?" Cass said, starting to walk into the plant. Sonic followed her, glancing around.

"Alright, so according to our maps." Sonic pulled out his communicator, pressing a button. The communicator showed a holographic blueprint of the layout of Chemical Plant. "The computer room should be... that way." Sonic pointed to the direction.

"Alright," and Cass followed him on.

Sonic bit his lip as he saw pink water gushing from the ceiling. "OH COME ON! IT'S ON THE CEILING NOW!?"

"That seems a bit uncontrollable and dangerous." Cass said blankly.

"Sounds like something Eggman would do." Sonic nodded, recalling the many uncontrollable and dangerous things Eggman had done.

"Well, we better just do our job and leave, this does not look healthy, and the fumes probably are not." Cass chirped.

"Yeah." Sonic nodded before looking at the map, pointing in another direction. "It should be right over there."

~Ohohohoh....~ A laugh rang out.

"Right over where?" A cloaked but blue hedgehog wobbly stepped out of the shadows.

"What the hell!?" Sonic jumped slightly.

"Is that Gerald?" Cass said.

"Watch your mouth, sonny boy." Chuck chuckled as he pulled off the hood. "Or I might have to wipe that smile off your face. Stand up straight you're saving the world not hanging with friends."

"He's an illusion!" Cass called.

"Worry not my dear, Cassandra." Chuck started to walk towards them. "I'm only here to dissuade illusions about shadows and androids." Chuck started to circle the two.

"Uncle Chuck, it's too dangerous to be running around right now." Sonic frowned. "Come on, we'll take you to the resistance."

"Ahh, Freedom fighters, as always my little chilli dog, I must say, the bird is a good choice." Chuck continued his pacing. "And let me guess, Tails dealing with tech, Knuckles spearheading a force. This week's girl is in charge of almost helping?" Chuck stopped. "And I'm sure you have a dark trator in your ranks as you have for far to long."

Sonic felt his ears flatten against his head. "Are you still on that? Shadow's a good guy! If you took the time to get to know him-"

"I shouldn't have to 'take the time to know him' should I, Sonic." Chuck exclaimed, he turned and started to pace close to the edge.

"That is a good point Sonic." Cass interjected.

"You're not helping." Sonic hissed out.

"Oh, she is helping enough." Chuck commented. "It's almost like she knows how horrid that traitor is, eh Ogilvie Maurice?" Chuck called.

"Ok!" Cass started towards Chuck. "Kilroy can stop." And she round housed Chuck off the platform.

The sound of a body hitting hard wet concrete sounded out. Sonic screamed out, "Uncle Chuck!"

"I'll be back!" Chuck yelled out, the sound of wet footsteps rang out as Chuck ran away back into the shadows.

Sonic breathed for a bit. "Thank Chaos he's alive...."

"He was phrasing the same way Kilroy did don't blame a woman for trying." Cass snapped at Sonic.

Sonic simply shook his head. "Let's just get back to the mission...."

"Alright." And Cass started towards the computer room. Sonic took out his communicator.

"Alright, we're here." He said into it.

"About time." Knuckles' voice was heard through the communicator. "What took you so long?"

"Just a little incident; nothing to worry about." Sonic replied. "What do we do now?"

"Tails gave you a flash drive before you left right?"

"Yeah." Sonic said, echoing the authors trying to cover their mean beans.

"Just stick that into the computer, and the Death Egg's power should be shut down." Knuckles informed.

"Alright!" Sonic said, doing as told.

"Tails and the other you should be approaching the Death Egg now. Return back to base." Knuckles said.

"Alright that was relatively painless enough." Cass said starting to skip out. "Shame for Gerald's spine."

Sonic turned off his communicator before following Cass out. He sighed. "Is it bad that I hope he's okay?"

"He's family, unfortunately, you gotta love them."

Sonic looked down as they walked. "He's not a bad guy, really. I don't know why he's acting the way he is though...."

"He's concerned for you." Cass said, she put a wing hand on Sonic's head. "Every boy friend that Marklin's ever had has terrified me, every time I came home to Tim and a 'girlfriend' or every second Kathie- Kathie, umm, speech cancelled. Anyways, it's just scary to you're children, and even nephews, to be involved with someone you don't know or don't have a liking to there stereotype." Cass smiled at Sonic. "It is just life, he will either love you despite or learn to love Shadow."

Sonic had a small smile on his muzzle. "I hope.... I'd really like to actually have a family member of mine attend our wedding...."

"Well, you already have at least one, when the fuck do I gotta iron the suit." Cass chimed, she rubbed Sonic's head before finally stopping the assault on his quills.

Sonic chuckled, trying to smooth back his quills. "After this war is over, I'll be sure to let ya know." He smiled to Cass. "Thanks."

"No problem kid." Cass smiled. "Ahh I'd love to go to a normal wedding for once."

"We'll see how that works out." Sonic laughed.

"Well I'll try and enjoy it anyways." Cass sighed.
