3. Struggles

Avni's Pov -

I started walking back home with exhaustion. Purchasing things and shopping is really not a cup of my tea. When I reached home, I saw many people were gathering in front of my house. I was surprised and confused. With hesitation I took few steps more only to witness shock of my life.

My eyes widened as soon as I  saw  Raghu pandit the jamendar and landlord of this village. He is cruel and heartless, he kills people like a flee. I heard alot about him and saw him few times but I never believed how cruel he'd be. But When I was in my 9 th grade. I was passing by the road, and some men were beating a person mercilessly to death. I was hell shocked how he and his wife were enjoying that scene. That scene still shivers me, how can someone be like that. What will they get taking people's lives? But the thing is what he is doing in my house? what would be  the matter? 

I glanced surroundings, then I saw ma was crying and asish was standing like a innocent boy. Many questions roamed inside of my brain. I felt something is fishy and I have to know.

"Hello beta. I think you know who I am." Raghu pandit voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I looked around and observed everyone is starring at me.

"Yes, I know you are raghupandit jamendar of ganore. I heard alot about you. Any reason why you are here ?" I asked confidently but deep inside I was scared to death.

"Hmm. Now don't say, you also don't know anything like your mom said" Raghu said nodding his head.

"what are you taking about??" I asked confused.

Raghu sighed before he went towards the Asish and said.

"Asish, you didn't said about this matter to your wife  and your children ? how sad! okay at least tell them now " Raghu said to Ashish.

But asish remained silent.

" Okay, I think your dad is shy to tell you ,I'll speak up on behalf of him."  he smirked.

"Avni you're name avni right? " he asked.

I nodded.

" Okay, three months back your dad asish mehta borrowed 50,000 thousand rupees from me with interest of 5 rupees with your house as surety . But Few days back time period was over to return money but still I gave him time. but not any more. he has to return money with interest. Ie , 1 ,25,000. But your beloved dad is unable to give back .so as per the agreement we are here to take your house " he smirked.

Thats it after listening his words.
I became numb. I couldn't understand anything, I was shocked no.. Scared. He will take our house? Then where will we live. Hot tears are brimming down my eyes. Then reality stuck on my face. My dad did this behind our backs. My blood boiled with enormous anger.

I immediately walked towards asish.

"Ashish mehta , is raghu pandit saying truth ?" I asked with red eyes.

Ashish remaind silent looking down.

"Please answer me Ashish mehta .why Are u silent ? answer me"  I yelled shaking his shoulder's.

" Yes, it's true " he atlast said not meeting my eyes.

That's it , I slapped him hard. I felt more disgusted for having such a father.

Every one present over there gasped. I know why.

"Ashish mehta do you have any idea what you did? Why did you borrow that much amount of money. Why ?Answer me , Ashish mehta.  Answer me....Answer me " I shouted on top of my voice.
