Jo
I walked into my office and she followed in quickly and quietly.
"Close my door." Letoya closed it before standing there looking like a lost puppy. I placed my glasses on my face as I went back to doing what I had intended on doing before one of the workers, Zion, had beeped me and told me that there was an altercation on the first floor. "Have a seat Letoya."
She sat down in one of the chairs in front of my desk and went to playing with her fingers.
For at least 5 minutes, we sat in tense silence before I looked up from my computer to find her staring out the window of my office.
"Seriously..." I broke the silence causing Letoya to jump slightly from me suddenly speaking. "What the hell is your problem? You really just showed your ass in front of all of my damn employees."
For a few moments, she opened and closed her mouth searching for words before finally smacking her lips as she caught a attitude. "Man, she did that to her damn self. She's racist and judged me from the moment I walked in the damn door!"
"Welcome to Cooperate, Letoya. You wanted a damn hand in the world, well this is what you have to endure in order to get there. You have to pry and scrap to get to the top, and you cannot fold under pressure. Get it together, because you just failed your first test. You think people want to hire a woman who gets angry over words?"
"She ain't have to do that though. It's not my fault you got racist bitches at your receptionist desk!"
Taking my glasses from my eyes and placing them on top of my head, my eyebrow arched as I chuckled. The look I wore was one of many that most did not get the chance to see. "I am really trying to figure out who in the hell you keep raising your voice at?"
Letoya shrugged slightly as she broke the eye contact she dared to hold with me. Softly, she muttered. "Nobody. Sorry." I watched her fight and ego leave her body and realized that she had a tender personality. Sometimes she's soft and sometimes she just... isn't.
Sighing, I got up and walked around her chair. My hands slid across her shoulder gently as I squatted beside her. She tensed up and I smirked as my lips grazed slightly against her earlobe as I spoke. "Don't be sorry, I'm just having a stressful day, that's all. I mean, we all have those days right?"
She nodded slowly as my fingers moved some of the hair out of her face so I could fully see her. "Y-Yeah."
Licking my lips, I placed a light kiss behind her ear and felt when she shivered. I smiled to myself as I straightened up and walked back over to my desk and leaned on it. She was sitting directly in front of me with her head still down. "Pick your head up Letoya. You have to stop doing that."
I watched as she lifted her head and looked everywhere but in my eyes.
For a moment, I studied her and I realized that she wanted to say something. I wasn't going to ask her to say it because I knew that eventually she'd talk herself into saying it. "Can I ask something?"
"You are a big girl sweet heart, ask away."
"What did you mean by I failed the test?" She asked almost shyly as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear.
Going back behind my desk, I opened one of the draws and pulled a contract out. Closing the draw back, I walked over to her and handed it to her. "Read and weep."
Letoya looked up at me briefly before reading some of the print in the thick brand of pages. "Is this a job contract?"
Nodding, I replied. "It's better than your coffee gig. I won't lie and say that it's simple because it isn't. You'll be my assistant and get paid every week. Base pay starts at two thousand a week."
Her eyes widened. "Well, when can I start?"
"When you actually take the time to read over the packet and make sure that you adhere to everything inside. My hours are crazy, and I don't tolerate unorganization. The longest I've kept assistants are a week or two at the most."
"Well none of your assistants were Letoya Luckett." Her being boastful caught me off guard some as she popped her imaginary collar.
Smiling in amusement for a second, I asked. "Oh really?"
She nodded as she did a little dance. "Seriously."
"Alright, well I'll hold you to that. Read it over and get back to me."
"I'm a quick reader." Letoya mumbled as she opened the documents back up and began breezing through them.
"Lesson number one." I spoke as I took the packet from her hands and closed it. "Don't be so quick to jump at money. In this world, it is easier to make deals with the Devil than you realize." Handing her back the packet, I walked back to my desk seat. "Now, I have work to attend to, Ms. Luckett. Have a marvelous rest of your day."
She nodded and I watched as she slung her bag over her shoulder. She placed the packet in her bag and began exiting my office. "Bye Jo."
"Ms. Luckett." I called out and she faced me again. I placed my glasses back on my face as I replied. "Don't keep me waiting long."
For the first instance today, she smiled that million dollar smile at me that caused waterfalls to form inside my panties. "I won't."
With that being said, she disappeared and closed my door behind her. I ran a hand through my hair as I let out the air that I didn't even realize I was holding. This woman was doing something to me and I knew that sooner or later I would have to take necessary measures.
Going into my files, I pulled up the contact that I needed and it began printing from the printer in my office. Grabbing it off of the printer, I placed it inside a folder and put a rubber band around it as I slid it into the draw and locked it with the key I had.
This was going to be different. She was different.
