Letoya

Something hit my window and I ignored it as I studied for my test. It was probably some small branches off the many of trees near my dorm, blowing in the already harsh wind. My head was deep in my science book, trying to understand how half of this shit even worked out.

My head shot up when it sounded as if tons of pebbles hit my window. If these damn college boys were throwing shit at my window, today would be the day that I ended them. I walked over to it, and pulled my curtains apart roughly. A smile immediately replaced my scowl when I looked down and saw Jo standing there.

Pushing my curtains aside some more, and opening my window, I peeked my head out before whisper yelling. "What are you doing here? It's freezing outside."

She held up her phone. "I called."

I looked back at my study desk but didn't see my phone. Instead once my eyes traveled to the side of my bed, I saw it was charging. Looking back at her, I replied. "Sorry. It was on the charger. What's up?"

"You said movies. Come on. I am going to keep my promise. I wanna take you on a movie date. Pack a bag."

Looking down at my outfit, I frowned slightly at it. "Let me throw on something warm. I'll meet you at the car."

Jo nodded and I watched as she walked off. I closed my window and took a breath, she really took my opinions seriously. It was nice to be considered for a change. Turning back to my window, I closed my curtains, remembering how people could see right through it.

Going to my closet, I threw on some jeans, a sweater, and my knee high boots. I grabbed a scarf and put it on. Reaching up in my closet, I grabbed my volleyball duffel bag and began throwing clothes and a pair of shoes in. Afterwards, grabbing my phone and charger as I opened my door quietly. It was pass 9 pm on a Thursday. If I woke Kelly up, I'd be prone to questions. This caused me to grab my keys tightly in my palm, praying one of the key chains didn't jingle against the others as I walked.

Tip toeing to the bathroom, I grabbed my essentials and snuck out of my dorm room, closing the door softly behind me. Once the door shut, I took off towards the parking lot.

My eyes immediately saw Jo's car and I quickly hopped inside. She looked at me with a confused face. "What's the rush?"

"Just drive." I replied hastily as I placed my duffel in the backseat.

She shrugged as she put the car in drive and drove off. When we reached a red light she looked at me. "Well, hey. I'm fine. Oh, you like the fact that I just planned a date? How nice. I try. I do try."

I smiled at her. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Hey Jo. This is really really sweet. Thank you."

Jo smiled back as she brushed some of her hair back. "I know right. Now, why'd you rush to the car back there?"

"My roommate... she's my best friend and all, but lately she's been tripping on where I'm going and who I'm with. She claims I'm spending too much time with you. I just didn't want to hear her mouth."

She looked at me and frowned slightly. "You sure that she doesn't feel more than a best friend should, Letoya?"

For a moment, I was silent but then I thought about who we were talking about. "Nah, not Kel. She's loud and blunt. She would have told me already. She's just protective over me, it's been like that since we were little girls running to the swing sets after school."

"What if she does have feelings for you though?"

"She doesn't Jo." I muttered, looking at her facial expression which was filled with worry as she drove. "Are you worried?"
