CHAPTER NINE

they all

walked closer to the open space. It was getting dark fast. Artemis told her hunters to set up the campsite.
After setting up the camp everyone went to their duties.
The newer huntresses walked to the tents, with glee written over their faces. They sat down- ready to watch the older huntresses teach them tricks.
The elder huntresses followed along- with smiles on their face; in amusement of the younger hunters excitement.
Artemis watched the campsite as she created a boarder so no mortal should see them. After creating the barrier she closed her eyes.
Focusing on the little sounds of critters. She heard the leaves rustling, that was caused by creatures, and the wind. The wind brushed against her youthful face. The air felt cold. Her hair danced to the movement of the wind. Artemis moved her hair that had fallen on her face. She opened her eyes to appreciate Earths beauty. Gracefully she sat down folding her legs to her chest. She gazed upon the stars that had finally shown. Her eyes wandered to 'Zoë' who was currently a 'star.'
'what would Zoë have thought of what's happening?' Artemis thought to herself. She started muttering a prayer along with a question seeking for advice. The gods and goddesses receive things like this usually with a sacrifice. But, now it's the goddesses turn. She was desperate. The reason that is because Artemis knows that something is about to happen. No idea what. But, she does know whatever it is- it's powerful, cannot be stoped. The closest thing or person per say to stop it is a hero who she admires.
The only boy who who proved her wrong, because of him she believes that maybe boys aren't so bad after, that all men aren't horrible stuck up beings.
Artemis looked down. She was playing with the grass. Artemis asked quietly to herself, "is it right to lie to my hunt?" Artemis thought about it. As she lingered she put her back to the bark of a tree.
Artemis had told her older hunters that they were here just to practice with younger huntresses to prepare them for future huntings. That's not true. They were here to prepare everyone for war that may or may not happen. She hasn't told anyone of her suspicions of the war yet. No one, not even the other gods. She had told the gods the reason why she picked this exact spot was to search for Perseus. Which was true. While she was training her hunters she searched for Perseus. Another thing she lied to her hunters about. The gods had very strictly told her no one is allowed to know about missing Perseus. It would brew rumors the gods did not want, so they all planned to keep quiet.
"Lady Artemis! Look! Look what I found!" her youngest hunter told her while having a great big smile plastered across her face with some missing teeth in the front.
'were these the lives the gods were easily willing to sacrifice in order for them to stay at the top of the food chain?'
"that's magnificent. Why don't we come back to the camp site? Huh, how about that?" Artemis said softly.
"Alright! Come on, I'll race you!"
Artemis watched the little girl sprint back. Artemis wore a smile as she said "I'm coming to get you!" She ran up to the little girl.
As Artemis ran she noticed a little, poor squirrel. It had

died.
