He started drawing a woman with long, black flowing hair. He gave her an expression
that said, " I think I'm better than you.", Hunter was about to finish on her outfit when a male
voice interrupted him.
"Good evening, Sir."
It was 9:30 am.
Hunter looked up at the man, now seeing he was nothing more than a tennager. He had on
a white apron and a long sleeved white shirt on under it. The teen's long, black hair was pulled
back, neatly into a ponytail.
"Good morning." Hunter smiled.
The teen puffed out his chest and put on a stern face.
"Sir," he said. "You've been here for over an hour already and you haven't bought
anything."
He was trying his hardest to be intimidating, but his small frame just made him look
adorable.
"The boss will get really mad if you don't buy anything," the teen continued.
"I'll just leave then," Hunter said whilst getting up. He didn't like confrontation.
"No!" The boy yelled. "Just take this."
He set a plate in front of Hunter. On it was a cookie, Hunter stared down atit.
"This way" The boy said, "If my dad sees you, he will think you bought the cookie and I won't get in trouble." He smiled. "Thanks... I suppose." Hunter mumbled and started back on his drawing. He expected the
boy to leave but instead he just stood there, watching Hunter draw.
"What'cha drawing" He asked.
"A girl"
"Oh, can I see."
Hunter blushed and slowly slid the sketchbook over so that the boy could see.
"She's so pretty."The boy said, amazed. "I bet she's a jerk."
"Why do you think that?"
" 'Cause all good looking people are jerks."
Hunter looked at the boy. " You can't say that you don't even know her, and that's not
always true."
"How do you know that?"
"Because, you're not a jerk."
The boy looked down at his feet and said, "It's kinda weird to compliment someone you
just met, don'tcha think?"
Hunter just stared at him.
"I'm Alex Sinclair." The boy said "What's your name?"
"Hunter."
Alex looked surprised. "That's a weird name. What's your last name?"
"Allen"
Alex laughed. Hunter thought it sounded like a donkey."Hunter Allen, it sounds like you're a hunter named Allen."
Alex did his donkey laugh again.
"Is that funny?" Hunter crossed his arms.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just never met anyone with your name before."
Hunter shrugged.
Alex sat down in the empty chair that was across from Hunter. They stared at each other.
"You wanna play tic-tac-toe?" Alex asked after 5 minutes of silence.
Hunter ignored him.
"Wanna hear a joke."
Hunter shrugged again.
"I was addicted to the hokey pokey. But thankfully I turned myself around."
Hunter erupted in laughter. Alex thought that he sounded like a windshield wiper.
" What are you, 12?" Hunter asked jokingly.
"Actually, I'm 19" Alex said proudly.
Hunter laughed once again. "I thought you were 16."
"Do I really look that young?"
Hunter nodded.
"How old are you?" Alex asked.
Hunter hesitated. " I am twenty-One." He said slowly.
"Suspicious." Alex grinned "You look 25."
"I am not that old." This was a lie, of course, he was actually about 10x that age. They both laughed. Alex with his donkey laugh and Hunter with his windshield wiper.
"You work here?" Hunter asked after they settled down.
"Yes."
"Shouldn't you be, I don't know, working?"
Alex pointed at Hunter. "You are right about that!"
Alex left to work after reminding Hunter to eat the cookie Alex made. Hunter wrapped
the cookie in a napkin and decided to go home and take a nap. Social interaction was exhausting.
