"Come on" Alex said leading Hunter outside.

Alex sat down and leaned against the outside wall was of the bakery. He looked up.

Hunter followed his gaze and saw he was staring at the Sinclair's sign. There wasn't much to the

sign, but Alex seemed to be having a silent argument with it.

"So." Hunter looked down at Alex, "I don't know if this is the right time for this but

here." He handed a small red box to Alex. Alex looked up at Hunter and smiled weakly. He

uncapped the box to reveal the bracelet Hunter box.

"Happy Birthday." Hunter said.

Alex chuckled. "You're right. This isn't the right time for this."

"So, I guess, you do not really get along with your dad?" Hunter asked.

"Yeah, it's just a lot. But it's nothing really." Alex looked at his hands again. He shook

his head and said, " Enough about me, how's your dad?"

Hunter wasn't satisfied with that answer but he didn't push it. If Alex wasn't comfortable

enough to confide in him Hunter wouldn't force him too.

"I never knew him. He died in a war while my mom was pregnant." Hunter squatted

down besides Alex, their shoulders rubbed as he plopped down on the concrete. " My mom loved

him a lot though, I can tell by the way she talks about him."

"That's good." Alex stared into Hunter's eyes.

"You have pretty eyes." Hunter complemented.

Alex blushed and lightly punched Hunter in the shoulder. "Stop that."

"What?"

"Stop saying nice things to me."

"Sorry I don't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"No,it's not that."He stuttered. "I'm just not used to it."

Hunter smirked, "Your cute when you're embarrassed."

"Staph!" Alex yelled but he was smiling.

Hunter was enjoying this conversation, just like he had for every other one they had, but

this time it was different. Hunter noticed that Alex was more relaxed. The scenery was probably

the reason. The shopping center was full of trees and bits of grass. The craft store across the way

even had its own rock garden. It wasn't the romantic picnic at the park that Hunter had originally

planned for their perfect first date, but it was something.

"Thanks." Alex said. "For the bracelet." "I would have gotten you something earlier, but somebody never told me their birthday."

Hunter said jokingly.

"Wah?" Alex feigned a gasp "What about you? You haven't told me your birthday

either."

"It's August 23."

"Soo, you were born in..." Alex started to count on his fingers. "1996."

"No. I actually wasn't"

Alex smiled. " Dang it, my math is usually correct."

"No. Your math was right." Hunter looked down.

"What?" Alex said still smiling.

"I lied. I'm not 21."

Alex slid further away from Hunter.. "What are you like a forty year old creep, who just

looks young or something?"

"No. It's worse."

Alex stared at him with dread.

"I'm 200."

Alex smiled and slid back close to Hunter. Closer than they were the first time

Hunter said, "I'm a vampire. Sorry for lying to you."

"If your a vampire," Alex stifled a giggle. "Change me."
