Chapter 3~  A place to go

"Why don't you kill that bear beside you" General Winter questioned.

The boy looked at the bear with a horrified  glance. The bear wore a similar expression.

"uh....um... You see sir, this bear is special. The bears mom was-was killed along with its brothers... So atleast let this one live... Please!!" The boy begged on and on asking for the bear to live.

"Did you bond with the bear?" General Winter asked, sounding annoyed. The boy had stopped talking and had a confused face.

"Pardon...?" The boy said with curiosity. Bond with a bear? Sounds impossible.

General Winter sighed. "now I have to take care of two of you" General Winter said annoyed.

General Winter gave a quick glance to the bear and started to explain what a bonded was.

"A bonded is a creature that you connect with, for example, the way you and the bear received a shock followed with the memories of each other." General winter explained.

The bear looked extremely bored, and Matthew look intrigued. Matthew liked gathering knowledge.

"Anyways, I found a small camp a few humans have put up near here. I will drop you off there tomorrow morning, if you can last that long without food." General Winter informed the child, glad that he didn't have to care for the child like a mother anymore.

The child felt a mixture of hope and sadness at the same time. "Will I still be able to see you, General Winter?" He asked the cold man with hope in his voice.

"Of course child, don't forget the promise we made." The cold man responded with a hint of mischief in his voice, almost sounding like a child.

The boy smiled brightly at the man. The boy saw the man as wise, not knowing how dangerous the man actually was.

"Now, child, if you can, you should get some rest. We are leaving very early." He said in a stern tone, a tone a mother would use.

The boy smiled and laid down with his bear to stay warm. The days will feel longer, but the boy didn't know that, well, not yet anyways...
